Sinboi, the WT claim is that first off they don't shun(,except for all their exceptions,) and especially that they don't shun family members who are minors or still in the family home. The claim by the WT is adamant that they don't shun family members, especially children, which you technically are. They make this claim before governments, under oath in court and in their literature. Call them on it with evidence; They shouldn't be softening up, they should never have abdicated their parenting.

We are giving too much power to the watchtower
by sinboi ini am just 17. many of you here are much older than me.. i do feel that offering advice here is like teaching my father how to fuck.
but seriously, i do see the problem here.
we are focusing more on the problem than the solution.. i have been reading mind power books for quite some time.

Be careful to live life well for yourself. Every endeavour should not be part of a massive f#$k you ,watchtower!
At some point,ASAP we need to cut those ties to the borg (,there are exceptions!) even if our family members choose to shun, and while it's a shitty thing that the WT enforces, it's on them. We can't control what WT family says about us.
We don't want to let that shape our whole lives, we don't even need to feel bad if we screw it up and the WT adherents are gloating over it. People can make mistakes! The WT allows themselves plenty. Don't let shame over your growing pains become a vehicle to entrap you in WT think! POMI folks ruin themselves with that shit and often end up as JW apologists who begin every forum or letter to the editor with a disclaimer about not being a JW.
Congratulations on being smart enough to escape at such a young age. Your parents religion claims they don't shun minor children. Didn't they get that memo?

When You Die Would You Haunt The Governing Body? If It were Possible?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini've been reading a lot about reincarnation these days and i'm beginning to think that it quite possibly might be true, it seems to fit in nicely with the idea that we live in a computer simulation.. anyway according to the tibetan book of the dead when we die we seem to hang around on the earth waiting for rebirth.
at which time we could be ghosts.

Re:Green handshakes & IRS
by carla ini was wondering if co's who get 'green handshakes' ever report their 'income' from these jw benefits?
in the us even gifts beyond a certain amount must be reported.
jw's like to claim how honest they are, do they report all their income?.

The giver is taxed after the threshold to be clear.
There are ESTATE PLANNING professionals to advise for those looking to distribute their assets gradually before death to ANY heirs to avoid tax penalties. I’m pretty sure here are experts in Wallkill to advise any JWs who want to lessen their estate tax burden.
If anyone especially loves their CO or a GB member, they can double the donation if half goes to wife. Because women have no other glory than that in the borg.

I thought gifts are only taxable to giver if more than a certain amount.

How do you deal with the loneliness after leaving?
by Whynot ini'm having one of those days where i feel lonely and wish i had someone to just hang out with.
my husband got disfellowshipped 3 years ago and even though i didn't do anything wrong i was pushed away.
my so called "friends" decided to avoid me.

Don’t be afraid of worldly friends. If you open yourself up to friendships, some will take, some will tank and some will fizzle away. And that’s ok. You will learn to choose friends that suit YOU rather than being stuck with pre approved WT associations by default.

A book by JW
by Catcat ini bought a book that was published by one brother in our area.
the title, if only, the brother didnt change his name he is, alex bogdanov, to support this brother i bought his book.
it is fiction about couples and i didnt think nothing of it, but after reading a few chapters one of the characters is an ex jw, i don’t think this character is disfellowshipped in the book, but she is definitely not active.

If you know the brother and it’s well known he wrote the book, your excuse is that you are supporting your brother. Haven’t had much of a chance to read it yet and have you( the interrogator) read it yet? And move on.

Child Abuse issues in India
by MaxPayne inany jw's ex or pimo ones aware of child abuse cases in india.
.
if there would be seems like they would conceal it alot in india.

I can imagine with the honor culture on top of the JW indoctrination that it is much worse for the victim when the abuse comes from outside their household. Telling would have put extra layers of shame on the victim and their family. The honor culture is independent of religion in South Asia, but religion is often twisted even further to accommodate abusers and silence the abused. Unfortunately in the JW culture, the religious teaching is already skewed to favor the abusers.

Lloyd’s new book
by jwfacts ini see there has already been discussion over lloyd’s new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
this includes discussion around his personality, motives and financial gains.
i have written a foreword for this book, because it is an important topic that has not been covered in such a complete format before.

JWs s are taught from thefirst how critically important It was that no one in the organization is paid a salary or wage. We are taught that any perceived moral or social failure demanded our scorn rejection and shunning.
lloyd is human and shows us himself in a open honest way. So what if he makes money. I wish we all could get something back for our wasted years and hard won experience. I’ve seen blogs and folks making picture perfect videos. Lloyd is about the content and he doesn’t grovel enough to please everyone. Well, so far he has shown more character than most leading politician types and I’m pretty sure he isn’t eating off of a 30K dining table paid for by you so I’m good. He’s not my idol my leader my minister or my husband. I just don’t watch you tubers that offer me no value. I don’t go anywhere dissing them. Life is too short and we only get this one for a guarantee and there is no warranty of workmanship so just move on if you don’t like someone. I find some of the couples to be annoying and often drama queens, but they still offer good info sometimes. I like the variety, but I like apostate chick best. Give me humor and it’s like sugar to wash down the medicine.
