by Sour Grapes inthere are over 8 million jdubs and i would venture a guess that at least 20% to 30% are pimo.
in my opinion, the kingdom hauls are only half full for two reasons....many have left but the majority are pimo and any little excuse will keep them home and they will report their token ghost hours in service.
all it takes to stay home is being tired, too much school homework or i will go next week, no doubt many have taken part-time jobs and the fear of working the second shift and the guilt of missing meetings is gone.

The ones running the show know that JWs are desperate for crumbs of hope that they are right, so they manipulate them constantly.
They don't care if anyone or everyone leaves. They have billions. The membership is their beard for whatever else is going on financially.

Nephew’s JW Fiancée Begins Conversion to Judaism Due to Passover Date
by Rabbi Midge init’s been a while since i posted, but for those who remember, i came on here to get some information about jehovah’s witnesses because i have a nephew who was getting engaged to a girl who was a jehovah’s witness and, along with some other sites, i was recommended this one.. since then we’ve been busy with passover and jehovah’s witnesses have had something they call the memorial of christ’s death (i believe i have that right).
this clashing of the two observances apparently did more for this girl than anything else i ever saw in our months of conversations with her.. respectfully, jews do not proselytize.
these are people who, of their own desire, “join the tribe” after some years of study and practice--something this girl has just begun to do.

I think that Afrikaans bemoaning the lack of spiritual interest in Jews that still celebrate their jewishness rather missed the point of rabbi midges posts. That or more likely be simply disagreed with their right to the culture unless they are bearded with tassels and praying daily at the western wall. That is part of our fundamentalist Christian indoctrination.
JWs would hate to be categorized as fundamentalist.

I was enjoying this and having lived close to Jewish communities, I appreciate much of what you explained about Jewish people. I think you are getting a taste of how ingrained it is for some to make every discussion at least a bit contentious. Some are really "off" religious discussion, period. Others have come to their (current) understanding and can't hear any other explanation of a religious community without feeling challenged.
Of course some things touched me in certain visceral ways, too. That one can accept a larger commonality (,simply being born into a community) and being accepted for that accident of birth offends every fundamental/evangelical vestige from of christian(ish) upbringing that we have. As you know, JWs reject every festival and celebratory event they can other than weddings (which are not that fun, honestly) Getting to celebrate without buying into some belief system messes with our damaged JW brains sometimes. It's an entirely different view of the universe and the atheists will have at you on different levels altogether.
There are obviously Jews that probably give your understanding the side eye, too, but I quite enjoyed learning about your world view and hope you continue posting.
There are some lingering bits of being in a high control religion that might come back and bite this young lady in the butt someday. Encourage her and your nephew to educate themselves about it.

49th Anniversary of my PAROLE from Federal prison

Terry, the WT stinks. You have had a colorful and interesting life in part due to your association with it.Prison is such a horrible and dangerous experience that I think the harms you have experienced cannot begin to be mitigated by the end result- clearly you are a creative and thoughtful man with amazing qualities. But after the WT chews us up and spits us out, everything is altered and our life course changes dramatically.
You have been a great person to know of over the years and I selfishly am glad you are in our band of misfit toys, but. . .
How many of us wonder how our lives would be had we not had our brains distorted by that association with the WTBTS ? Where would Terry be?

Some countries censor. Coming home, the first time I misspelled msn.com my first thought was surprise at the porn page. I had no barriers to find anything needed with a controlling government, but they didn’t restrict religious or political content from what we could find, just no porn. They couldn’t control the satellite tv though! That was a problem with kids but we just disconnected.
wonder how much the WT will censor?

i come to you now asking for your assistance in what to present to the dean of students at my university.. why am i meeting with dean of students, you may ask?
because today, while innocently finishing an assignment in the school library, i happened to look out the window and see the jws with their stupid little cart.

Invite your friends and classmates to the area for your own regular dissemination’s about the dangers of involvement with the JWs. Right next to the silent JWs. If you have a free speech area on campus all the better. They have nowhere else to go.

I remember one accusation of a ”lie”” that I investigated. The accuser had a picture of the supposed lie contrasted with his congregations opt of the publication. It was different! The reason was that the WT had ore than one publishing date and the embarrassing wrong info was removed and replaced . I believe it was really old like studies in the scriptures. So don’t know if the Jw was aware of it, but as a recovering apologist myself, I doubt the person is still in. The weight of evidence becomes undeniable.
