Wait one minute here!!! Did the GB PURPOSEFULLY launch a D.O.S. attack on Russia? (aka the letter writting campaign)
by GTSfromSY ini know this sounds very outlandish by the title but hear this one out:.
a few months back i spoke to an old friend of mine raised "around the truth", but never baptized and wanting nothing to do with the wt.
he is very hip to what is going on in the wt however.

Will #metoo have an affect on forcing changing attitudes at Watchtower?
by jwfacts indespite decades of the feminist movement, watchtower's attitude of woman being inferior has changed little, with pauline sexism justified as inspired, on the basis that women are lesser emotionally, intellectually and physically.
jehovah's witnesses seem to accept this with little resistance.
is there anything about the #metoo movement that may wake followers up?

Get your barf bag ready for trigger words:
It will not affect Watchtower. Followers are trained to think that this is yet another proof that this old system needs to be destroyed. The thinking is either: 1. "Look at the poor women trying to be treated kindly, too bad they aren't JWs and get the honor they deserve" or 2. "Stupid feminism, those women should shut up." I think some JW men think along the lines of the latter, but talk the talk of the former to sisters.
Twice I heard from elders that "sisters are falsely accusing brothers of rape". It was 200 miles apart from each other and I suspect they learned it from their elders school.
However, I believe some who have been poorly treated (understatement!), and who are finding commiseration with the
#m3t #metoo movement may start to find EXJW stuff and find freedom. I think it is important for EXJWs to tell their #metoo story, so people are aware.I wish I could be more optimistic!

It seems that Amnesty International's numbers are dwarfed by what the JWs said they did. At least according to what I read here: https://www.amnestyusa.org/victory-russian-prisoner-of-conscience-freed-as-write-for-rights-2013-reaches-1-4-million-actions/
I heard it was a world wide letter writing campaign. Each JW was to send five letters to five guys in Russia. They bragged about how an extra plane was needed for the JW letters. Many sent 10 or 15 letters and bragged about that.
I would not want to be looking for my medicine in the mail in Russia at that time.
Of what benefit or for who's benefit?
WT can call persecution for ages now and it helps keep their sheep brainwashed. "Remember what happened in Russia, and how they wouldn't listen to our reasonable letters?"
IT'S FISHY. It's ILLOGICAL. It's IRRATIONAL.
Like so much from WT, yet they are slippery and slimy and so far keep getting away with it.
BTW, Cedars got a leaked video of a legal department meeting from around last March. It shows how excited they got talking about Russian persecution. It is called "The Persecution Complex".
How could NO ONE have warned them what they could be responsible for a D.O.S? That is my first thought reading your OP. Oh wait. Maybe a sister did. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. That goes to show sisters should not be in the legal department! No one listens!

"May I have a copy of the 'Child-safegaurding policy' letter please?"
by stuckinarut2 inso as we all know, the australian royal commission has it on record that a "child safegaurding policy" document was produced hurriedly at the tail end of the australian royal commission.. the commission was told by the society representatives that this would be "freely available to all congregants and interested people".. the commission quizzed the brothers as to whether it would "be freely handed out, or simply handed to those who requested it".
either way, it was to be freely available.. so imagine the surprise of one our fellow faders who attended a kh yesterday to ask for a copy!.
she politely and respectfully asked the brother at the door for a copy.

Go for it Smiddy. Do you have any calming herbs you can take before the meeting? I know need them when I'm forced to go for family. Is the ARC still taking reports? I hope so.
BTW, I could not believe this. I should have, but their heartlessness still surprises me. We were indoctrinated to think our WT
overloadsoverlords were as honest as we were. Nope, just training little sheep to do their bidding. -

Tangent:
You just made me think about the "Don't book extra rooms". I always wondered about that, like who in their right mind books two rooms and later cancels one willy nilly??? Well, I can see some crazies now that I say that. Oh, my study might come, I'll pray and book a room and all will work out.
Anyway, the reason they say that is all about money! If they don't get what they negotiated for, Watchtower won't get their kick back!
Thanks for unwinding more of it for me.

We've been in the -teens F. overnight and during the day at times. We can handle it though, I feel bad for people where they get hit with cold temps that they are not prepared for, like happens in FL occasionally.
-18 for meeting on Sunday. They do not cancel for anything here.
I knew a CO (in another area) that cancelled for snow and inclement weather quickly because they had a mentally handicapped person die getting hit by a bus during a snow storm in one of his congregations. Before the death, they were proud of never cancelling.

Love this thread. Magnum you said it, and Carla.
Wt will make it sound like it was started as a grassroots thing. I remember someone on this site saying that the clapping was started by a bethel representative. I found RedPillDevoter on Reddit saying the clapping at his/her convention was started by a Bethelite:
Still recovering from the initial shock of what I saw. It only gets worse. It was told to me that the person that started the rhythmic clapping was a bethel commission member that was oversearing our RC. I have no words... I'm only in just because all my family is. I need to find a way out. At least some of my relatives are waking up and start making questions.
I did not hear of it, or see it, in the Midwest yet, but Wt may know the Midwest is usually trailing behind a few years. Sometimes they seem to know what they are doing, and sometimes they do not know their head from their arse. I could see them trying it, and the midwesterners not following!

Leah Remini to do episode on JW's

Maybe she will do a review show at the end of season three that has some sort of update on every cult or the victims she interviewed. Or maybe she will have Steven Hassan on again and he will freely speak about each of the cults she exposed.

Qrystal, I am not qualified to help you in any way, but I want to let you know my thoughts and concerns are with you. Please call a suicide prevention line and get professional help. I had a grandparent that lost a parent at your age and it stayed with her. In fact it makes you vulnerable, so please get help. For example, my grandparent joined the JWs at that time. Please call a prevention line. I wish I could hug you.
