How were you 'outed' ??

many of us here have been "outed" as ones who no longer believe that this is "the truth".. many didn't have the chance to do it in our own way, and in our own time, but rather someone "found out about our apostasy" and "reported" it to the spiritual police (elders).

would you like to share your stories?.

Haven't been truly outed. However, the first person I told immediately told the rest of their family even though I specifically asked them not to tell ANYONE! I almost fainted. The parents are inactive (told one of the parents). They told the children that have not been raised in it, hence they have no idea how important it is not to out someone. ALL relatives are IN. I felt like a mouse being played with by a cat. Awful. They went to grab my wallet and take my blood card out. How do I explain that to my husband as a newly awakened if he noticed? I didn't let them. It has taken two years to share with anyone other than professionals who are bound by laws/state rules.

It felt like what Eddie Lane looked like leaving his in-laws house on the first season of The Path. Good show, btw.

I really think I first found apostates was from a post of his. It was the cartoon drawing of the assembly rules. The comments shocked me, but they started to stick in my head. Particularly, comments about the WT treating us like children.

Terrific movie monologue from "Three Billboards Outside Ebbings, Missouri'

just watched this movie last night.. the premise of the title and film centers around the mother of young girl, who was raped, murdered, and set on fire by an unknown killer.

convinced that the local police could be doing more, she erects billboards outside of town, calling into question the efforts of the town's beloved chief of police.

this does not sit well with the other townspeople, and soon, the town priest comes to visit and admonish her.and after hearing him tell her if she came to church more regularly, she would be able to find the peace and resolution she needs over her daughter's death, she delivers this speech to him:.

Elders are culpable because of the two witness rule is right in their book.

Grandmas who do not know one bit of the truth about JWs are not culpable as they have been lied to their whole life. Now, if grandma found out the truth and kept being a JW, then she's guilty.

When you join the Bloods and the Crips you know you are joining a murderous gang.

I'm sure it gets a lot more complicated, but it would be a great speech for a nosy elder. Especially with p72 (?) (2-witness rule) incorporated in it.

Funny News From My Old Congragation - Elder Fight!

i haven't stopped laughing since i heard this.

a pimo in my last congregation told me that an elder has been removed from his elder position.

apparently he grabbed another elder by the throat, put him up against a wall in the back room and punched him in on the nose... during an elders meeting on thursday evening after the meeting.. the congregation were running round like headless chickens wondering what to do?

Is My Wife Awakening?

every now and then, my wife will talk about how things are not making sense within the org.

i usually just dismiss it as her playing mind games with me.

for example, she would ask why there are so many branches being closed or why so many congregations are being merged.

I think she is awakening, to answer your question. I'm jealous! The closest I get is that cognitive dissonance thinking expression on my husbands face. He did look up when Russell died and the reign of Rutherford. I was asking him who was the small group in 1919 that was the FDS? He never answered, but started thinking. Maybe I'll bring it up again. He actually said there were some of the GC in 1919. Really? What would happen in 1919 if you didn't partake??? Everyone would, notice how visitors partake now. He didn't answer, but had the CD (cog dis) look. Anyway, I digress.

Congratulations noconsequence. Keep asking questions and try not to share facts. It's hard. Maybe prepare mentally for regression and one last bit of zealousness, but I hope not.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in a similar circumstance and it gives me hope.

ps: To me the Cog Dis, CD, look is like a crabby thinking look. Like the person is putting together a puzzle and figuring out half the pieces are missing even though their trusted mentor continually tells them that they are all there.

has anybody else noticed a pattern that is here among us outcasts?

there seems to be, on average, a higher level of intelligence here than there is at the kingdom hall.

actually, intelligent conversation seems to be looked down upon among the witnesses.. also, the simple language skills found here seem to be above average compared to those among the witnesses.

Sometimes when I say/said something that sounded 'uppity' or intelligent to the JW I was talking to, they would say "Wow, you are very smart" or the like. They would change the subject to the topic of how knowledgeable I am.

Maybe they were uncomfortable thinking.

I wasn't, but for too many years I excused problems by blaming individuals, and not the WT system. Well, that's what they want, and brainwash us to believe.

ps. When looking at what cult researchers say, it is not about intelligence. There are many reasons that keep people in, and I do not remember intelligence being one of them. Yes it is exhausting trying to wake them up. exhausting.
