So sorry about the abuse. NY has opened up, until August, to file against WT institutional abuse (allowing such). There is no statute of limitations from what I remember. Zalkin law firm is probably taking cases if you are interested. Just want you to know about that law. It is all institutions actually, but WT is the one of interest here.

there was a letter read sunday at our meeting that mentioned some parts of us are starting to open back up.

however, regardless of things opening up that no kingdom halls should be used for any meetings of any kind.

also, no door-to-door ministry or any form of in-person ministry is allowed.

If they closed the halls, they would meet in small groups in homes and zoom. Same as book studies afterward and before; they stopped book studies because people were talking too much. I don't think they'll do that. Besides, they aren't going to tell people not to meet together after the pandemic.

Are they going to pull the one and only GT card and say stay in your interior rooms? That would only last a few years and they're done.

Hospital is laying off and furloughing

i've been having a tough time today, i just got notice that our hospital is laying off a large group of people and furloughing others.

nurses, doctors, we just don't have enough business during this covid crisis, we've only ran at 60% capacity, while cuomo is telling us about shortages, they weren't ever realized, and nys simply won't open up fast enough for us to recover.

nys has given notice that hospitals are likely going to be out for 4-5 more months before all restrictions will be lifted, only necessary surgeries are allowed right now, with a few hundred of millions per month revenue shortfall, this is going to destroy and contract our business and our remote (rural) hospitals are the hardest hit, probably going to close permanently.

The letter was read in my congregation too on Sunday. They also had to make themselves seem better than the rest of the world by saying the world might start going back to work for economic (read greedy) reasons, but we value life more. uggh. Remember they were late to quit gathering in March... no respect for life.

Also, there has been a lot more indoctrination during Covid19. Elders calling, emailing, making sure your camera is on and you are dressed up, and smiling. I wouldn't doubt they record the meeting so they can take roll call. Or at least have each elder count his group during meeting with notes on their camera. There's also been a lot of pressure to meet with zoom service groups, even if you haven't meet with a literal group in months. They meet every morning, and they want people to have their own groups and write letters together over zoom. I'm not doing it, but the intimidation is constant, and that is what will get PIMOs like myself out. It's a pressure cooker, NO TIME OFF!!!!!! I can see why WT likes it this way, they have MORE control.

Hey, you can probably tell I'm sick of people saying that when JWs go back to meetings they will quit the religion?! Because they are still. going. to. meetings. It's just virtual.

Coronavirus Positive

hey all,.

i'm day six of isolation, confirmed to have coronavirus.

i have been seeing very sick cv positive patients over the last month in my a&e role (emergency physician) it was inevitable i would contract it.. just wanted to give some symptom and treatment advice, it's anecdotal but may help.. started as sore throat and headache, then croaky voice, then dry cough, then episodic transient fevers, all this over the first few days.

I was worried too, and looked at his comments. When he was on day 10 he commented on this thread and said he was still doing better. Last time he commented was 3 days after that on other subjects. I'm taking that as a good sign... we know it isn't concrete, but it is something. Here's hoping he is doing well, donating some antibodies, and just too darn busy to comment!

The topic came up because my husband heard the C.O. is coming in July and he also heard that he is expecting to do the visit through Zoom, implying we will still be on it. Actually hopefully THEY will still be on it, as this is wearing thin on me and making me literally sick.

BTW, C.O. was just here in March.

After a zoom meeting it's "I'm loud enough to get the spoon!"

(That is in reference to a game that I think therapists use where the person with the object, say spoon, can talk and everyone else can't. There's no groups or one on one chatting, just yell loud to who you want to and everyone else hears. So, yeah, the socializing isn't really socializing, maybe it could be called dumbed down socializing, right up wt's alley! They can also record the whole thing for JCs!"

I don't understand how wt followers are getting time off with zoom. Driving time?

The intrusion is deeper with zoom.

I thought they couldn't go to on-line, but I think this is a perfect example of making good use of a crisis.
