  The Motive of the Governing Body

  i have been quiet of late, developing other interests, happy that there are a whole group of people producing great resources.

  however, i found some old emails from ray franz that promoted me to write an article that answers a question i regularly receive.

  it is in regards to the motive of governing body members.

  Thank you Thank you Thank you Paul! The money drum is beat a lot in ex-jw circles, it is not the only motivator, and as you said they'd lose it all if they left. Also, when only being familiar with household expenses, WT numbers are daunting... not that they aren't hiding money. I bet they are, but for "God".

  Maybe some were in congregations that just seemed to want to bleed them dry. Very believable.

  Anecdote: I knew someone who graduated from Gilead when Knorr was the prez. Later, in the 90s one of the GB dedicated a new hall and was introduced as Br. So and So. Years later that graduate referred to that as "the horrible treatment of Br. So and So in Blank Congregation". I don't remember which GB it was. The graduate thought he was friends with all the GB members because back in the day they were 'friends' with Knorr. Anyway, I had no idea what they meant by the horrible treatment and let it be, he was a bit crazy (and would probably get angry at me for not knowing what he was talking about if I asked). A few years later they mentioned that in "Blank" Congregation they didn't mention that Br. So and So was a GB member how disgusting!!!! The tone of voice made me remember the older comment and put it together. Prominence, and you'd better observe it.

  JW cult suing everyone critical of the cult

  its amazing how the cult has changed over the years.

  they are now suing everyone who has books or internet presences critical of the cult.

  this was never done that i can remember before.

  All I know of is they are suing Truth and Transperancey Foundation, and did sue Mishu, they guy from Germany that wrote "Goodbye Jehovah!".

  Edit: 60+ DMCA Subpeonas, not just DMCAs. Then a judge saying why no lawsuits? Then the next week, bam, suing the TTF guys. Guys that they knew the names of for years. They were not looking for them and not able to find them as they allege to the judge.

  E-MAIL Shepherding during Covid stay at home

  my wife is getting regular emails from the cobe ... you know we have the truth, the world is in the dark, we're special, hang in there, read this encouraging watchtower ... blah blah blah ... just wondering if these are coordinated from org.. recent mass email example .... " .... an excellent watchtower article in the july 2020. it is entitled “be convinced that you have the truth”.

  the scripture is from 2 tim 3:14. we are to continue in the things we have learned and be persuaded to believe.

  reflect for a moment what appealed to you about the truth which drew you to jehovah.

  General WT priorities regarding shepherding IMO:

  1. Men who do stuff for them for free.(a)

  2. Anyone who looks like they are leaving and might do stuff for free or give stuff or money if they stay in.(a)

  (a) Women are second class citizens/property of men, and we have too many of them anyway. If their husband is faded, the wife will most likely fade, so don't waste your time.

  Most of our shepherding falls under #1. Will you do this for us? Will you do that for us? I mean that they combine, or count begging my husband to do things as shepherding.

  -oh, gawd.. 2. if you use a zoom background, make sure it is not distracting, or something crass like prison.

  1. oh oh Wanna be! If they hear we are not always paying urgent attention, they'll clamp down more!

  2. I'm happy to say my husband starting to loosen up a bit. He had the camera off the whole last meeting until it ended. But... then he turned it on with the mic (in one of his many efforts to save me) so we can 'socialize'. It was nice to see some pets ;)

  3. Hey, I had a shower moment, and I think I know the reason they are dragging on going back to the hall. If they start up when only a small percentage are (is?) going to the hall and the rest are on Zoom, it is the perfect set up to fade.

  4. Also, they are of course testing the on-line only thing.

  5. Couldn't tell if anyone is getting beat. It wouldn't be on vid. The kids are funny tho. squirming around! Poor things. I remember vividly being bored to death and every other kid being able to color, sleep, or even read a wt book. Not my parents! I had to listen to the grooming! (not abused in that way, btw)

  i`ll list a few things and welcome any input, comments you may have .. 1.when adam & eve "sinned" disobeyed him, surely god could have handled it better than to condemn all future generations to disease and death ?.

  2.his handling of satan who supposedly seduced eve to disobey god could also have been done a lot differently with a finality to it.. 3.i find little if anything in his dealings with the patriarchs that suggests a loving god protecting them.?.

  4.taking on the nation of israel and leading them as his chosen people does not inspire confidence or trust as a god of love.. 5.throughout the hebrew scriptures / old testament his chosen people were constantly at war with other nations which of course would have meant many deaths of the israelite`s during these battles .and the grief that comes with family members in those times.

  Welcome Zena 73. You cannot be DF or DA as others have said.

  Research, research, research. That way they have no chance of sucking you back in.

  So sorry about the abuse. NY has opened up, until August, to file against WT institutional abuse (allowing such). There is no statute of limitations from what I remember. Zalkin law firm is probably taking cases if you are interested. Just want you to know about that law. It is all institutions actually, but WT is the one of interest here.
