Hope and Reality
by Alive! infor a long time, i've been moving into a place of utmost hope and faith.
universal reconciliation.
as a converted jw - i began my conversion with the joy that there is a hope for something we all would love - a world where each of us sees our fellow kind as a true brother.. i don't think that's an unhealthy way to live.. but - i'm living with the effects of corruptive thinking from a 'sect' - a divisive sect and judgemental sect that has hurt my sense of self.. it's terribly painful to have completely believed one thing, and then completely believe something else.... well that's how it feels to me.. i've read of some here who were jws for years, then became devout born agains for years and now are confirmed atheists.. wow.. how do you cope with the frivolous nature of your 'beliefs' - beliefs that were 'truths' for you in their own time.. i'm struggling - anyone else?.

Bonsai said it beautifully. Keep learning about life and let go of those false hopes. Just because there is no "paradise" doesn't mean you can't enjoy the gift of life that you have now!!
Do good onto others and be good to yourself. Study about the origins of life and how amazing it truly is. Always keep your eyes focused forward. Don't look back.

do you remember when the yearbook was released?
i'm just curious about the 2015 publisher data.

Congregation average
by dothemath ina while back at our co visit, he commended the cong.
because our average hours had gone up.. we went from around 7.3 to about 7.5. i recall the days when anything less than 10 was considered awful.. of course now, they don't even print the hours in the km or anywhere.. i was wondering how these numbers compared to other congregations?.

We had a firecracker of a C.O. a few years back and we were averaging over 11 hours a month. After he left a young couple came in and we suddenly dropped to 7.5-8. It never got better in the two years he was our C.O. We also had a number of talks on finding ways to increase time but it fell on deaf ears. -

i was brought up a jw in the uk and stopped going not long after i was married.
that was 20 years ago so i'm not really up to date with the current doctrinal flip flops or the new youtube obsessed gb.. came across this site while googling the name of a local elder who's just been convicted of possesion of a pc full of unpleasant pics of kids.. so, my question.

Hi Landy and welcome!
Its been pretty much covered but when you have family in the Org, it can be real tricky to get out AND maintain those relationships. Also if you have a spouse who holds to the fake hopes that the wts perpetuates then it makes it that much harder.
Personally I would DE today but my wife still holds out belief that the wts is a good organization. And as someone else said, some still hold positions of authority within the congregation. So to quickly drop would raise a red flag.

1000th post here today.
by Beth Sarim injust want to mention that i just posted my 1000th post on here somewhere a few minutes ago.
i joined back in 2009 and was a mostly a lurker for years and asking occasional questions and occasional statements.
but after a few months of those broadcasts the ''floodgates'' have opened.
