Why would anyone choose to support Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by Half banana inwhat is the point of supporting a belief which began as a bronze age ox-headed idol called yahweh... in a religion designed for illiterate peasants now appropriated by a money-driven cult with a one hundred and forty six year unbroken record of total failure of its bible based predictions?.

I think the main drive for being a Jehovah is you can save a ton of money on Christmas presents every year.
Its really kinda sad seeing people at the hall. All the failed promises and yet they cling on, hoping that their day will come. People are so depressed now that if the big A don't come soon we are going to see more suicides in the Borg or hopefully a mass exodus.

Quality of JW teaching from elders
by sir82 inthere was a recent thread on the "quality" of converts to jws in recent years.
it wasn't a pretty picture, based on the thread contents.. well, the lack of depth isn't restricted to new converts.. in our clam this week, one of the principal points for review was this:.
ne 1:1; 2:1—why can we conclude that “the 20thyear” mentioned at nehemiah 1:1 and 2:1 is countedfrom the same starting point?

What really was the point of that question? Why did they deem that question worthy of a review? Who cares if Neh1:1 and 2:1 are talking about the same calendar year? Is there something I'm missing? -

Met the new CO (correction officer) this week
by truth doubter injust want to share my take on the new circuit overseers visit.
first impression, he's a control freak.
he got up several times to correct the servants on lights, sound and speaker stand positioning.

The last time we met with the C.O. with the other elders he proceeded to chastise us on having phone numbers along with the door to door territories.
We had a co a few years back who said to do that in order to reach more people. So we would go door to door, then phone those we couldn't reach with the death dealing message.
The current co said that was no good that door to door should not have phone numbers. So now last I checked since I haven't been out in service for months, they are back to getting 1% of people home with no hope of getting the other 99%.
Actually it's good for them, bad for the dubbie dubbies.

The shackles of personal choice.
by Darkknight757 inone of the things that woke me up was a post on this board about a person who spliced a portion of the song "no god's, no masters" by arch enemy into a kingdom song at their hall.
this small bit opened up a world long forgotten from my youth.. before becoming a witness i was huge into death metal and some heavy metal ( loved metalica until they sold out with their black album) and as we know the wts forbids us to have freedom of choice when it comes to music, movies and many other things.
so now i full on love me some good old metal again!!

Not having the guilt that comes with personal choice makes it all the better! -

So I was wondering, upon the removal of your shackles of personal choice, what things did you start doing? What music do you enjoy or what movies do you like now? What activities do you enjoy now that your conscience has seen that these matters of personal choice make us individually who we are?

Oh my!!! This has to be the most shameless attempt at getting money out of people in all the world. Why do they keep mentioning children giving to the Borg? It's so despicable. How much money does an invisible deity need? -

Money to Org
by truthlover ini know this has been talked about to death but this week our loving faithful and discreet slave wrote a letter to all congregations in canada - keep 1500.00 a month in congregation expense account each month for the next three months coverage,(4500.00 in all) 5000.00 for any problems that may arise but send rest into them.
so aren't we lucky to have 9500.00 still left in the account!
the elder reading the letter indicated it was for the kingdom hall building work!!!.

We had extra money in our account and yet another resolution was passed to send it to the Borg last night. Retarded considering there is work that needs done at that building. Or maybe they could actually put the damn money to good use and help the less fortunate in our congregation. I don't know how many times the wife and I gave money to help people at our hall who are poor. Why not make good use of that money and actually do something nice???
