Knock knock."Who's there? Two elders!!

so today was a cold and snowy day in my neck of the woods and the wife and i were just chilling around the house waiting to go to the church tonight for a candle lighting service when lo and behold we get a knock on the door.

yup, 2 elders from my old hall.

i figured they were fishing for some time so i invited them in and gave them some coffee and we talked about everything that happened and why we walk away from the jw's.

@dozy. The church was for the annual The Compassionate Friends candle lighting event. It was held at a church. My wife did a PowerPoint presentation with over 80 loved ones who died. Like a yearly Memorial basically but the candle lighting is held every second Sunday in December at 7:00 pm around the world so it's like a wave of light to remember our dead loved ones and that their life will always matter.

@pale.emperor That's basically what I told them. They have no idea if paradise will ever come no more than we know if there is indeed life after death.

They asked if we wanted to see our dead babies agin and that God loves us so much that he made the ransom provision and the resurrection hope.

I told them that God would be loving IF he would have let me have my daughter and son NOW rather than in some imaginary panda paradise.

LOL we talked about that too. Live forever? Um...... no thanks. We are just a higher form of animal and therefore die like the others.

I also asked them why the GB refer to themselves as the faithful slave when according to the July 2013 Watchtower page 8 paragraph 19 and their precious bible that it would not be appointed until the GT begins. Then they asked again if I feel the GB are the faithful slave. DUH!! Read your bible.

Both the wife and I told them we are much happier now and that we belong to non religious organizations that show greater love than the J-dubs ever did.

Yea bible is quite clear that light isn't the same as the sun which was created on day 4. Considering each creative day was "an extended period of time, it's impossible for GREEN vegetation to come before the sun.

Its like the old "which came first, the chicken or the egg" thing.

They feel that they can talk about the Bible and try to convince me that god exists based off a book of error and that it's ok to use the name "Jehovah"even though it is grammatically incorrect. I also told them I don't believe in the creation story, talking snakes and donkeys and that Satan is nothing more than an invisible boogy man, and I don't believe in him either.

I also asked them how they can champion truth when their version changes constantly. He quotes the "light gets brighter" scripture but I reminded him that he should consider the context and that scripture has nothing to do with "gradual light." We also talked about the ARC and November broadcast and how a GB member admitted they are still "roving about" according to Daniel. I asked them why they follow a religion that admits to still "roving about". LOL

To my surprise the conversation went quite well. I told them we are never going back despite the fact that they want to come over and answer my many questions about their crazy doctrine.

Either way I was brutally honest with them and told them how it is. So they want to come back. I left them with the question regarding Genesis chapter 1 and how the creator of the universe doesn't know that trees require sunlight. They were dumbfounded.

Elder wants to stop by with the CO for a visit .

so i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.

he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".

he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.

Elders are nothing more than adult playground bullies. Don't let them in as others have said, you're asking for trouble. Heck they may even try giving you a lovely "Return to Hell" brochure. Just shoo them away. They are up to no good.

My MIL keeps telling me the elders are going to do a shepherding visit on us and IF they do they too will be shoo'ed away.

@schnell. I've often thought the same thing. Great question!!😊

I can think of two off hand. Many here have family still plugged in to the Borg and so it's good to see what dribble they are feeding them. Also it's good preparation for us in case something comes up so we are ready to rebut.

Second is that all of us at one point "knew" that this was "the truth" and that by leaving we were putting ourselves at odds with "the only true God Jehovah" so to see shit like this reaffirms our belief that it is in fact NOT THE TRUTH and we made the right decision by leaving the Borg.

Similar to when we were in and would reaffirm that it was the truth, now we can see clearly through the FOG.
