Many were moving from the Detroit area to Clinton Twp so the congregations were growing very rapidly. With this in mind it was decided to go ahead with a double hall which at the time was needed.
Our congregation was very overpopulated as well as some others. We also had 4 congregations in that building and it was showing its age.

The email Kim is reading is one I sent her about the Clinton Twp. Kingdom Hall.
This story is in fact true as I was doing accounts when all this went down. 6 different congregations collaborated and came up with over $750,000 for the double hall that was to go up. Then the LDC came and money grabbed.
There is still no new hall and now as far as I know there are no plans for a new one. Last I heard they are going to make due with what they have and consolidate.

i've recently been at an assembly here in romania and there was an announced they were running a 10,000 euro deficit and urging all attendees to donate more money besides the already 5k has was donated during that day.
i really don't understand these things.
it's their own assembly hall.
I’ll never forget my last circuit ASSembly when the announcement was made for the deficit at that one day convention, the people actually gasped! The total was $23000 and as of that time, only $5000 or so was “accounted for”. By then I was awake and infuriated because I knew that this money was going to fund child sex abuse cases and the like.
In contrast I do remember an assembly where the cost was made by the after lunch announcement.
That was only one time in the 20 years or so of assemblies that I attended.

since the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.
They still come by quite regularly in my neighborhood and the congregation that works the territory is a small one with a lot of old people.
I think the majority of dubs in our area don’t like the carts so much because they still want to converse with people, even if it’s just about sports or the weather.
Going forward it seems as if they are going to try to make short returns on the few that show interest and leave them with a biblical thought perhaps. Its funny because before I left the emphasis wasn’t on placing literature, but having conversations with the people.
Thankfully the organization has dumbed these people to the point that doorstep conversations with people are going to be next to impossible for the average dub. They rely too much on “simplified” literature to speak for them. This idea of having conversations isn’t going to go well.

to me, the jw definition of the overlapping generation teaching is that the lives of the anointed from 1914 overlap with the lives of the anointed right now.
david splane used the example of fred franz and how he finished his "earthly course" in 1992 but while he did, he had a lot of "contemporaries" that outlived him and are currently living today.

It's one of the most bizarre teachings Watchtower has ever come up with. It's not backed by scripture and it makes wild assumptions that make even the most dedicated Jehovah's Witness confused.
I remeber a long time elder say at a Watchtower study how utterly confusing the teaching was. He said it made no sense. Then he said,"....but we wait on Jehovah to reveal this in time."
