Youve Got Mail! TM
by ABibleStudent indont you love getting emails from friends and relatives, even if it is a chain email?
at least someone thought about you and cared enough to send you an email.
if you were a new convert, active jw, a jw with doubts, or an ex-jw struggling to live without jw family/friends, how would you feel about receiving one of my friendly, innocent emails?

WE CAN DO THIS....if you think the idea is as good as I do!
by Terry ini have long had an idea that i think is a very powerful tool in reaching even hard-nosed jw's.. .
it would consist only of actual photographic scans of various documents, articles, photographs such as these from marvin shilmer's blog: (see next panel).
there would be no extraneous non-official text whatsoever.. it would be published the size of an old life magazine and sent anonymously to jw's at their homes.. the cover would clearly contain the words: "all contents originally published by watchtower bible &tract society".

Deep down they smell a rat. Deep down they already know, but on the surface they are kidding themselves into thinking the pull towards the magic of Armegeddon is stronger.
Yes. Me too. When I finally broke free, I was preaching to everyone online but not attending meetings because I knew that they made me depressed.

I disagree. My husband, myself, my sister-in-law, my brother-in-law, my nephew, and one of my friends have all been freed from the cult within the last 5 months, all due to the truth in the Bible. We have managed to get 3 other family members to listen... for several hours, and promises of a return to the subject, actually.

Even if all of them are wrong, that doesn't matter as God never commanded us to join a denomination. Most Christian denominations agree on all important points... points that the JW org disagrees on.
I focus on gettting the salvational points covered. Romans 10:9-- If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
1 John 5:1, 13 1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
After that, the details take care of themselves as long as the person receives Holy Spirit before being bamboozled by another sect. 1 John 2:27-- 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

If you include a "chapter" or two (or three) showing what's actually in the Bible... vs. what the WTBTS teaches through its publications and SAYS is in the Bible, both technically AND literally... I would think it a good idea, dear Terry (peace to you!). If it's only organization faux pas, however, I don't think it will have the same effect... because they always have some way of justifying such things
I agree. Actually, much of this could also be done with copies of Watchtower articles and books. They used to teach that Jesus couldn't possibly be Michael the Archangel and included 2 scriptures from Hebrews 1 right on the page.

Here is a start: http://www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/1914.htm
If you are serious about this, get some help. Contact the missionary at JWinfo.net, or someone similar. They can show you specifically how the JW reasoning is in error. For example, King David is called a first-born, even though he is the youngest son, so obviously, Colossians referring to Christ as the firstborn over all creation is not necessarily referring to order of creation.

Door to door includes churches?
by AuntBee in.
is it still common for jws to go right up to a church to share their message?
one of my fb friends who's a pastor posted today about receiving a visit while he was in his office at his church.. can protestants likewise go up to kingdom halls to call on jws?

It is true that many of the JW errors are overcome by context, and/or a good Bible that references you to other scriptures that say the same. (Like Isaiah and the NT, yeah!).

Why Some Suffer Spiritual Shipwreck
by mankkeli inthis was taken from the 1999 wt, 7/15.. .
when paul warned of experiencing shipwreck, he had in mind some who had thrust aside their good conscience and had lost their faith.
(1 timothy 1:19) among them were hymenaeus and alexander who fell into apostasy, deviating from the truth and speaking abusively.

When Paul warned of experiencing “shipwreck,” he had in mind some who had “thrust aside” their good conscience and had lost their faith. (1 Timothy 1:19) Among them were Hymenaeus and Alexander who fell into apostasy, deviating from the truth and speaking abusively. (1 Timothy 1:20, footnote; 2 Timothy 2:17, 18) Today, apostates, who deviate from the cult that was designed to hide Christs glory, are not spoken of in 1 Timothy, instead they are apostates following the example of Paul, (Acts 21:21) because they realize that Christ is mediator, not earthly man to whom no salvation belongs. They follow their God-given duty to witness for Jesus Christ, (Acts 1:8) warning others of the "evil slave" that dooms them to life separated from God. They realize that no matter when Christ returns, they have assurance of their salvation, and that is how they stay alert. They warn others that follow the evil slave class with these scriptures: Acts 1:7; Matthew 24:23-27 Such apostates succeed in freeing others from this destructive cult, some of whom come to Christ for salvation for the first time in their lives. Hallelujah!
Others who have left the cult have wrecked the ship of their faith by thrusting aside their conscience and indulging in this world’s unbridled pleasure-seeking and its sexual immorality. (2 Peter 2:20-22) But others leave the organization that based everything around the occult practice of pyramidology and numerology and turn to True Worship. They soon find themselves understanding unconditional love and reaping the fruit of the spirit for the first time in their lives. Some who have stopped associating with the Cult known as Jehovah's Witnesses still believe that it practices the true religion. These poor people are still parted from Christ and have the phobias planted from the mind control and think that they are doomed. We are grateful that our perfect loving God has given them time to come to know him before bringing judgment day.
Okay, I rewrote it but ran out of time to cite more scriptures, even where they are used or practically quoted. ;)

We are ready for relief, but determined to do as much as we can in the rescue of others, so just trusting that the timing will be the Lord's timing and not our own.
