I had heard he was a District Overseer, but other than that and a few recordings of his talks I've seen, that's all I know about him.

Who is Ellwood Johnson?

he also gave a talk in which people were laughing about some aspect of child abuse.so, does anyone know anything about him?

Oh Damn...I have been sprung!
by stuckinarut2 ini knew it could happen one day...yet i was so careful..... sitting at the sound cabinet, i had our awesome forum open on my tablet, and didn't see the microphone brother looking over at me...... he wandered over and asked me "whats that site?".
i quickly responded "oh, i googled to get to our jw.org site, and this must have popped up" while quickly closing it.... he didn't look too fussed, but my heart was beating..... he is pretty chilled out and certainly not an "uber-dub"...but this was a wake up call to be more careful...i am fading fast, but don't want anymore attention from the nazi-elders while doing so!.

Don't clear your browser history. Tell them you'll let them see your browser history when they have a warrant.
Why anyone would let an elder look at his browser history is beyond me.
Hypothetical:
Elder: "Can I see your browser history?"
Me: "Hell, no." (We say "hell" in Texas even in the congregation.)
Elder: "Why not?"
Me: "Because it's none of your business."
Elder: "What do you have to hide?"
Me: "I'm hiding nothing. I'm preserving my dignity and privacy. You're not the police."
Elder: "Well, it seems to me that if you had nothing to hide you wouldn't be objecting."
Me: "Okay, let's call the service desk and ask them if it's okay for an elder to demand to see someone's browsing history. Better yet, let's call my attorney." -

Wife fully awake.
by cappytan ini learned this past week that my wife is now awake.
i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".
she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

I suggest you both exchange time spent with Bible reading and religious texts, with long hikes and walks in the woods, along with a gentle practice of being silently present in and with the moment.
I'm currently exploring Buddhist philosophy, so "being silently present in and with the moment" is precisely what I'm trying to do.
She's not quite to the point yet to abandon theism, although she has stopped praying.

but it seems that some of the "new" new songs have been leaked by somebody at bethel.. just a bit of a warning, do not click on that vocal rendition of song 142... it is awful.

The elder's book specifically prohibits anyone recording a meeting.
Oubliette: Right. But what do they do if the person keeps showing up with a recorder, fully willing to cooperate with the committee, but only under the condition of being allowed to record it? Would they just DF the person in absentia? Or would they keep attempting to have the meeting only to have to postpone it because the person shows up with a recorder again?
