VA shooting suspect was raised a JW! He mentions it on his Twitter account
by WingCommander inanyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.
bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.
i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

Buddhism Anyone?
by LaurenM inso, i have recently been delving in buddhism and i must say it all makes sense!
like, the philosophies and ideas are what i've always believed but could never put a name to.
for example, they don't believe in god, they teach acceptance of all faiths, that peace can be achieved - not by changing other people - but by changing yourself, that everyone has goodness in themselves, that happiness can be gained internally (not externally as a gift from god), and that life is temporary so we should enjoy it!

Cofty's comment is exactly why I say I'm a secular buddhist, if people ask me.
I agree with the tenets of the philosophy...but I don't agree with the supernatural stuff the traditional buddhists believe in.

Good is occasionally a matter of perspective.
Like I would say that ending the war in the pacific (WWII) was a good thing.
the inhabitants of Hiroshima and Nagasaki would likely disagree.
Or take another example. In Texas, we have been experiencing a drought for quite some time. This year, we had so much rain in the spring that it was a huge help in getting the water table and wells filled up. The drought is over for now. So the rain was good.
However, the rain also brought flooding and some people lost their lives. Those people and their surviving families would likely disagree that the rain we had this year was good.

The audio is pretty overmodulated. Is there a better recording?
It's hard enough for us yanks to understand different British accents, but the overmodulation made it virtually impossible for me to follow.
:-( Thanks for the upload, though.

What were you favorite book in the organization? I know what you're thinking...LOL!
by BashfulAshG inwhat were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.

I'm pretty sure we studied Mankind's Search for God in the bookstudy. I specifically remember filling in for the reader during the part on the Aztecs.

Thats interesting cappy..... What would they show all day?
They already have a 24 hour streaming version of JW broadcasting that has various programming scheduled throughout the day. If you go to the tv[dot]jw[dot]org website and click on "Streaming" you'll see what it's like.
