  even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.

  Yes I can show you definitive proof. To do so I'll use another Scientists - Nikola Tesla.

  How is that definitive proof of making scientific discoveries by studying philosophy and metaphysics?

  Nikola Tesla was a great scientist, true. But I would be comfortable in saying that all of his discoveries were based off of physical observation and experimentation and not due to philosophy and metaphysics.

  EDIT: and it bears stating that in the past century there were decades where more scientific progress was made than in all the previous centuries...and that was without resorting to philosophy or the study of metaphysics.

  cappytan - Before making a Judgement, perhaps you should research the lives of these men - Galileo, Descartes, Kepler, Newton, Lomonosov, Mendeleyev
  If you can show me one of these men, that did not first delve into Philosophy, you can appropriately call my statement "Bollocks" as you so wisely surmised it as.

  I know each of those men dabbled in Philosophy. I like researching philosophy. But philosophy has absolutely nothing to do with physical science. Can you show me definitive proof of how Philosophy and Metaphysics led to their discoveries? Isn't it true that their philosophy and metaphysics had absolutely nothing to do with their discoveries whatsoever, but instead with observation of their actual physical surroundings?

  for years, you've been getting hundreds of reports from your hired ss agents, er, cos, about poor midweek meeting attendance, people not showing up for talks, crappy teaching from elders, etc.. so, you make the determination - ok!

  What has always confused me about the midweek meeting is ....How does anyone do it? What I mean is this.....I work full time and I get up at 4 AM M-F. How the hell does anyone get prettied up and go outanywhere during the week? I think it is unrealistic and unkind to ask people to do this.

  Don't forget how much of a hardship the mid-week meeting is on parents, especially parents of young children. My kids have a strict 8:00 bed time. The meeting night was always an inconvenience and we always had a horrible morning after the meeting.
