Is my friend on the way out of the organisation?
by The Rebel inwhen i left the watchtower i realised it was best to put friendships on hold.
however i mentioned to my best friend that i didn't agree with how they handled child abuse issues and that was one of the reasons i left.. anyway as i am fortunate and own two rental apartments and he is a plumber so we have kept in contact, in that i email him when i require his services and he sends me the invoice.
anyway i am now dissociated, but yesterday i emailed him about a pluming problem, and he replied.. " sorry we missed going to the indian ( this was a comment made about us having a meal together about 9 months ago, which i backed out of because i felt he was too indoctrinated and i had not disassociated myself) anyway his email continued:-.

I say a mixture of A & C. Tell him you've heard some of the same things and that you're there for him if he needs to vent in confidence. -

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah
by cofty inlistening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.
every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.
it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

Until your attacked by demons, the WORD comes in pretty handy. I've been attacked several times, believe me it sucks. I find salvation in that word.
Sorry to derail the thread, but WTF is that BS quoted above?
BrokenBonez: you need to get some mental help. There are no such thing as actual "demons." What you experienced wasn't real...it was all in your head.

When someone feels compelled to say "We are all confident of Jehovah's direction by way of the governing body and by way of the branch", it often means the opposite.
It could also be that he was instructed to write something along those lines to "reassure the friends" of Jehovah's love (aka spin spin spin).

Couldn't take it anymore.
by Darkknight757 inso i decided yesterday to give my wife's full disclosure.
not sure it was the best decision considering she holds very firmly to the resurrection hope so we can see our babies again.. anyways she is agreeable to begin a study to find a better truth.
where is a good place to go to get some good reliable biblical info on the web that we can consider together?.

We talk a lot about conditional friends on here
by cappytan inso, when people post about being shunned by their friends, i've heard several posters say things like, "their friendship is conditional.
real friendships aren't conditional.".
i'm sorry, but that just isn't really true.. if you and i were friends, there are conditions.

I agree with the sentiments. The conditions JW's put on friendships are unreasonable, unacceptable and prevents them from forming truly close friendships.
However, like EdenOne acknowledged, the idea of a so-called "unconditional friendship" even for non-JW's is more idealistic than realistic.

The conditions for remaining friends is respect, respect prevents me from doing something that would harm a friend physically or emotionally. JWs have rules which go far beyond respect.
I agree about their rules going beyond respect.
However, the fact remains that friendships are conditional, whether they be JW or not. To assert otherwise is to ignore human nature.

So, when people post about being shunned by their friends, I've heard several posters say things like, "Their friendship is conditional. Real friendships aren't conditional."
I'm sorry, but that just isn't really true.
If you and I were friends, there are conditions. For instance: don't sleep with my wife, don't insult my kids, don't abuse my hospitality.
"But Cappy, anyone who would do those things isn't being a real friend!"
Sorry, but until someone does those things, you would continue to view them as a friend.
I know of one woman who was extremely close with another. They were so close, they frequently said things that showed they considered each other family. Both women did things together every day. They even went on vacation with each other's families. They were friends for YEARS. One year, one of the women, ended up sleeping with her friends husband and proceeded to have an ongoing affair with that husband for several months. Needless to say, when it was found out, that friendship ended.
But, how was the innocent woman to know that this woman wasn't a true friend until this occurred? She couldn't.
So, in my opinion, the notion of friendship being unconditional is just a utopian fantasy. There are always conditions. Some of mine are listed above. JW's just have a slightly longer list.

Wife and mother in law would be shocked. I have not used a suitcase in about two years.
You can fit it in your jacket pocket.
TP-Link will let you flash the firmware on this router and you have a pocket size Pirate Box.
