How long did the flood last?
How long can land vegetation survive submerged in seawater?
How long can freshwater fish survive in saltwater?
How old is human civilization? What is the oldest settlement in south america? How did those people get there from the middle east after the flood wiped out everything on the earth?

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brother Jeramy inallow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

Thanks for demonstrating my point about the pathological negativity many exhibit on this forum.
Ad hominem.
- You posited a position that YOU don't agree with.
- You claim to be a JW, which requires 100% agreement (at least publicly) with the GB, a position you disagree with.
- You teach people the JW religion, yet discount it as false.
- You proclaim faith in Jesus and to teach the truth, yet are actively involved in and claim to be a member of a religion that teaches the opposite of Jesus and obvious falsehoods. Are those statements true or not?

stuckinarut2: It's gonna be like the Matrix. Jehovah will just download that stuff into our brains.
Isn't it great how the solution to any problem or question is, "Oh, Jehovah will take care of it."

My wife and I were both baptized in our preteens. I was 11.
Before we woke up, we had already noticed the trend of encouraging child baptism and we didn't like it. We both agreed that our kids would NOT be getting baptized before they were 18. We wanted it to be their decision, not something they were doing to go along with the crowd and then get in trouble later in life.

Is visiting a grave a DFing offence in Japan?
by wifibandit inin a post at the exjw sub-reddit a user, ursusaractus, posted a link to a site showing a secret ossuary/mausoleum built a few years after the chiba assembly hall was constructed.. http://buta.exjw2.org/noukotudo/noukotudo.htm.
as to why this is of note, he said in part:.
in japan, cremation is the norm for burials, and most either inter the ashes in a family plot (with many other deceased relatives) in a buddhist ceremony, or bring them home to be placed on the family buddhist altar.

I can't see it officially being a disfellowshipping offense...
Although I could see it being one of those things that calls your "exemplariness" into question.

I wonder if you can be spiritual and religious at the same time??
by Deltawave inok again i would like to apologise as i did come across preachy.
i am not going to debate whether or not i am a bk as you have your opinions either way.
what i was trying to write though was my thoughts and feelings which i hope don't offend anyone on this forum.

Does that also mean that we can blame God for all of the ugly things in the world? If not, why not?
That is an excellent question. No way to have a satisfying answer to that and still retain a belief in God.

I understand the aversion some have to using the word "spiritual."
But if you think about it in terms of say, having spirit, I think it could take on an acceptable meaning for me.
My definition:
Spiritual: of, relating to, being in high spirits.
When I meditate, it is a spiritual experience in that sense. I feel refreshed, renewed and my mind feels centered - my spirits are high.
Spiritual, when relating to your mind, in this sense is acceptable to me.
However, if it has anything to do with something outside the physical universe, like some kind of detached being, or that there's something innate in you that is your "spirit," I reject that definition outright for lack of evidence.

ScenicViewer: Is this from a magazine? A Kingdom Ministry? What is the issue or date?
It is from the July issue of the Kingdom Ministry.
