Sometimes You Just Gotta Score One For the Cult Members

this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.
the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

Will you attend the Kingdom Hall for a funeral of parents who are still JW's? If not, do you tell them beforehand?
by ThomasCovenant ini was recently talking to an ex witness whose elderly parents, and in law parents, are still witnesses.. as shocking and incomprehensible as it may seem to both sets of parents, this ex witness believes that, just like every other human throughout human history, they are going to die.
now this ex witness has expressed to me that he won't ever step foot in a kingdom hall again.. he is in a dillemma as to what to do about their funerals.
he does not want to attend any service held at the kingdom hall as the service will be heavily controlled by the seven members of the governing body that reside in brooklyn and who don't know his parents at all.. he is quite willing to stand outside the hall, or attend the crematorium or gravesite or funeral home and also any wake that takes place afterwards as people are more free to express themselves in a less formal setting.

I guess every situation is different. My mother, though she always wished I would come back to the hall, never cut me out of her life. Because of this, I chose to respect what I knew were her wishes, though I wasn't crazy about being around those JWs even for a second. The other thing for me and my brother is that we wanted those witnesses who are so quick to cast a judgemental eye towards us "unfaithful" offspring that 1. we would spare no expense to send Mom off in style and 2. that we showed a visible love of Mom and a respect for her beliefs by including many of them. I think it was a good anti-witness and we all had a chance to send Mom off in style when we scattered her ashes at sea the next day from a chartered boat. We all had a chance to say the things we wanted to say as we said our final goodbyes.

Not nearly as impressive as meeting a previously unknown sibling...but my wife actually met my ex-boss and her husband when she was in LasVegas for a convention. My ex-boss and her husband were there for an unrelated convention and the three of them ended up meeting in a German restaurant in a part of town not near either group's hotel. Pretty cool.

It's Friday! Let's Drink Some Whisk(e)y!! (Responsibly, Of Course)

i represent diageo n america's whisk(e)y portfolio.. this includes: johnnie walker, the classic malts of scotland, bushmills irish whiskey, crown royal, bulleit bourbon and rye whiskey, george dickel tennessee whisky, and bucchanan's blended scotch whisky.. my job basically involves speaking publicly about the whiskies, hosting and presenting whisk(e)y tastings and dinners, and educating bar & restaurant staff about whisk(e)y. tough gig, i know.. my mow bio & pic can be found on crown royal's website here: http://www.crownroyal.com/west-masters/breck-taylor.

I'm a scotch guy, myself. My wife just got me a couple of new bottles - Glenmore 12 yr. single malt and Glenlivet 16 yr. old single malt. I'm looking forward to those.
I have toured the Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg. I used to go to motorcycle rallies there. Cute little town. I can't drink Jack though...something about it gives me a headache no matter how small a quantitiy is in my drink. I guess I must be alergic to something in it. I like Jim Beam black label and I loves me some Maker's Mark.
I used to be a member of the Scotch Whiskey Society - with their exclusive casks and all that...I just haven't bought any from there in ages. Very very good stuff, though.
BTW - my cocktail last night was simple Seagram's 7 w/ diet coke. A "we're waiting for our table" kind of drink.
