The end was close in 1914, 1925, 1975. Now that they don't use dates to tell when its the end they talk about contemporary generation's which that's about as good as saying it will be this generation when it doesn't happen then they can say it will be in the next generation. But the special meeting said the preaching work was completed and all the prophecies have been fulfilled. So I think its going to happen tomorrow you better get your basement ready if you don't have a basement then I guess your out of luck.

JW Rumor: End of the Traveling Overseer
by Edison Trent ina friend of mine has contacts to a family with several circuit overseers and special pioneers.
they have good connections to bethel.. he told me that the latest rumor from bethel states that the cos should be abolished in their present form.
they have also recently begun to take cos back to bethel.. over the same channel i have already heard of the car fleet program and that the dos should be abolished.. has anyone else already heard of it?

They already announced last weekend that the preaching work was completed even though the JW's are still missing the cry for peace and security. But I would imagine the upcoming protest that the governing body members are invited to will be turned into something like (Look the nations are coming after us the END IS NEAR!!!)

For those that read the bible, does the true message of scripture still come through in NWT?
by NikL inmy active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.
thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.
i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).

The JW bible is actually missing certain things or uses the wrong translations to get a certain mind set ac crossed that matches the teaching. I would recommend using more then one bible for example I usually use http://biblehub.com/revelation/20-12.htm when I'm trying to get the meaning of something but I would also recommend looking at the greek lexicon for meaning of words too because in greek definitions for things are broken down much more directly then english where we don't had like 20 or 30 different words to mean the same thing.

Is this a normal JW practice? Warning, this will be a bit graphic.
by Sequoia inthis post may be disturbing and i apologize, but i'm just trying to find out if this is a practice the jw teaches.
i was taken advantage of by a guy claiming to be a jw preacher.
he took me to his house supposedly so i could give his daughter piano lessons, and then he basically forced himself on me while telling me he was in love with me and wanted to marry me.

It's not sapposed to be a normal practice but because JW use laws such as the two witness rule "Must be two witnesses or it didn't happen" It makes it a prime religion for pedofiles and sexual predators to hide in. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/jehovahs-witnesses-face-child-sex-abuse-investigation-in-australia/2015/08/14/d8a58eda-406e-11e5-9561-4b3dc93e3b9a_story.html?utm_term=.ef5f732ba150
As can be seen in the above^ I personally stopped going to meetings long ago after I hit 18 but mostly because the teaching is repetitive and brain washing and I still have family in it which are very brain washed and who told me that even if the US news had cases of child pedofilia that they would simply not listen to it cause the watch tower society is always "true" and everything else is apostasy. The best advice I can give you is go directly to the authorities don't go through the elders because it will be swept under the rug or they will try to make you believe that it was your own fault anything to get the organization safe. They are already paying out millions of dollars of sex case and court fees for failure to release documents and such. Which is why they are talking about cutting back and have started to move out of Brooklyn NY to move to warwick.

dealing with religion after leaving the witnesses
by joker ini’ve noticed many people posting on this site seem to have completely given up on religion/spirituality.. but some have attended services at another religion, or just follow their own heart regarding what to believe.. my question is how does anyone deal after leaving with all of the witness crap that we believed about babylon the great, the great harlot, spiritual prostitute, etc., etc.
i’m finding out that i seem to have built myself a pretty solid wall regarding religion.. some people can just chuck all beliefs into one basket saying that they are all basically garbage,,, and that is ok, no problem i respect that.. but for myself there is a certain part of my personality that needs a spiritual belief not like the witnesses in any way, but something to meditate on, and contemplate.. being a witness taught me how bad it is to actually think of god in any other way besides what the jw’s believe.
and now when i attend any other service, the dark jw side seems to pop out and seriously makes me believe that everything i see/do/say is wrong.

If we look at things based off of evolution if we came out of evolved monkeys why has that evolution process stopped then. Scientists still have not been able to create life from nothing as well because that's basically what evolution says. The bible has been around for a very long time and many things out of the bible can be proven historically such as places and such. Also I personally have had prayers answered though that was before I identified as a JW which for me makes me believe that the bible is real. But I can understand that people who leave the JW cult would rather go off the deep end and would rather believe that nothing exists in terms of god or creation because they've been made a fool out of by the religion that they followed. Pretty sure people who leave another form of religion to JW think much of the same thing of that religion they left for. But by going off and identifying as atheist instead all your really doing too is justifying what JW say happens to people when they leave the religion. And your allowing a religion to steal your personal spirituality. And in the event that the bible is true you've turned your back on god. I mean if your okay with that it is your free choice that allows you to believe in nothing as well. Just like the bible says everyone gets judged individually its not a "group" or "religion" which will allow you to be "saved" or not. And also just like the bible says its undeserved kindness to get everlasting life so you could never do enough to deserve a reward like that. The last is first and the first is last meaning no rank and file gets priority in terms of judgement. But yeah if you want to fly off the handle and believe that you evolved from a monkey and you just evolved and gained the ability to speak and communicate even though the actual scientific proof of current day monkey's evolving into humans don't exist its totally up to you. But I won't give JW satisfaction to say that I'm not a spiritual person or justify anything that they've said about me. And I'd rather still believe that gods still there and I can read the bible myself and keep learning. But I do not sit here and worrying about "the end coming" cause the bible says no one will know the time or the place. So I will continue to be the good person I am following what the bible says but not be some fanatic or feel the need to join a religion and listen to some priest or elder or leader try to tell me what I can already read for myself.

Well unless your going to just go and believe that the bible was created by man and science is the only thing you choose to believe in then you can pick your posion either atheist or to believe in something. -

How the org will spin the Midweek meeting about Child Abuse in Australia
by tor1500 inluke 21:11 says:there will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another food shortages and pestilences;+ and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs.
but verse 12 says:but before all these things happen, people will lay their hands on you and persecute you,+ handing you over to the synagogues and prisons.
you will be brought before kings and governors for the sake of my name.

They've never once brought up topics about child abuse at least while i was still a JW in watchtowers or awakes or in the young people ask book because there's been cases in the US since the 1960's of it happening maybe even before that. Why because it was a huge problem now you have sex offenders going to the watchtower society asking that there records be destroyed within AUS, UK and US there's been a few causes in the US more recently as well but they aren't as publicly known as most of the ones in AUS but really hopefully more people realize what the organization is doing and decide to leave.

I'll be honest here but everyone seems to be bent on the idea that you need to identify as "some" religion. Catholic, JW, Muslium, ect ect ect so many different religions to pick from. But what does the bible say Mark 9:38 "John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” " And how does Jesus respond? mark 9:39 "But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. " So lets put this into perspective the apostles are telling Jesus this person isn't in the same group or "church" or "religion" as they are in and they are asking him if they should stop him but Jesus tells them no cause its not what religion you identify as its whether or not you believe in Jehovah or Jesus. As long as your following what the bible is telling you. And honestly many people are under the misconception that they themselves need someone to translate the bible like the leader of some religion. But keep in mind how did Jehovah's witnesses get started? Russel started it using the bible works from 7th day Adventists and other religions then used the bible to come up with his own theory's on what should or shouldn't be the correct doctrine. You should be reading it for yourself then determining what you will believe and what they translate to you. That's actually how I decided that being a JW wasn't my cup of tea while my parents are still very much into it. I looked at scriptures and the way they are wording things to mean and then used the Greek lexicon to break down the original scriptures from the King James version and everything becomes really clear and simple after you get the definitions of what words mean. Makes it really easy to tell whether something is just pure symbolic or not. Also really helps when your trying to figure out what is twisted doctrine and what's real. So don't go off the deep end do what you should have from the beginning read the bible learn from it then go about your life. I could run through tons of things ive researched myself but honestly the only right way to do it is do it yourself and not be told what to do. Yes its more work because people go to a church so they don't have to read things and research but that is the only way you will know what your learning is the real truth or not.

meeting with elders about WT involvement in UN
by LevelThePlayingField ini still go to the meetings because of my in wife and it came about that the elders knew of my pissed off attitude about the society getting involved in the un.
so the elders said they could help me get over that and wanted to meet with me.
now just to let you know, i have only told my wife and her mom so far about it, that's it.

The best thing you can do is fade away. Don't try to argue or fight with people who are involved in cults. There's more then enough info that points to the fact they where a part of the UN as well as the fact they are still doing lobbying and involved in other political organizations. Some of that can be found on current tax information as well. But trying to wake people up will do nothing but get you disfellowshipped. If you made the mistake of getting baptized then you can't do anything but fade away. If you didn't get baptized then they can't shun you because your more or less a worldly person who is still someone they can "bring in".
