Reading the original post I just realized that the tale of Cain and Abel was used for propaganda porpuses in Isreal. They would tell their sons these tales to let them know that if they worshipped other ways they would end up miserable like Cain. Just as you said before, it's so easy to see the whole idea behind the Bible now that God is no longer in the picture.

I've never in my life paid for software. This may sound bad, however in my country 75% of the users wouldn't be using computers if they needed to pay for softwares. I've been using Windows 7 since it came out, it's much better then any windows os imho.

problemaddict, I'm a bit more into movies than that. I don't judge only based on whether my favorite character gets killed or not. I think the only two good characters from the first episode that will survive are Bran and Cantrecallhisname (his little brother). This series is well written and everything but the storyline lacks the "good always wins over the bad" cliche that I'm so used to.
Anyway, I recomend this trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVaD8rouJn0 . It's a lot a fun, obviously spoiler alert.

This is the worst series I've ever watched in my life. Whenever things are starting to get smooth and good characters seem to gain advantage, the writers just kill them. I've wasted 25+ hours of my life watching how the writers make the bad win over the good.
They make you continue watching by planting the seed in your head that "just a few more episodes and everything is gonna be all right", but no, painful death comes upon anyone who is not cruel and perfidious enaugh. Almost all the bad characters are presented in situations where you develop a good feeling toward them, they let you see the good part of their personality so that in the end you cannot even decide which side to pick. Even Khaleesi starts to become a cruel bicth, I can see it coming.
But what did I expect? It's called Game of Thrones, it's like gambling. A latin-american telenovela makes more sense this show.Yet it scores 9.5 on IMDB.
What do you think? Don't tell me to read the books instead, I'm complaining here about the series.
