  Dumb Elders

  i knew a few pretty intelligent elders .

  sometimes i would wonder why they remained as elders or even witnesses because they were successful men who made a good living and were highly respected because of their qualities.. that is a rather small group.

  most elders that i know of aren’t the brightest bulbs in the sky.

  Most who are appointed as Elders are not the loving shepherds they love to proclaim they are. They are merely administrators and Governors who walk around with a self entitled air of importance. Many believe that every word that comes out of their mouth is the utterance of Jehovah. What makes it worse is that there are just as many people in the congregation dumber than the elders who actually believe that.

  Most of them have accomplished very little outside of the organization other than putting in 90 hours a month in field service. 85 of those hours are spent driving around or camped out in a Starbucks. Most are in NO WAY qualified to give any advise on marriage, sex, medical, financial, and in many cases, even spiritual. Some can’t even pronounce words like Deuteronomy or Ecclesiastes correctly. All they can do is consult old publications or make a phone call to the branch to tell them what to do.

  Yes. I knew of one brother who succumbed to temptation and who secretly misused Charman Ultra Soft. He was afflicted with painful hemorrhoids and eventually had to confess to the body of elders. The elders provided him with loving council and reminded him of Jobs painful affliction of boils. He repented and now serves in the full time ministry in the Skidmarks Congregation.

  How much do Elders actually get along with each other?

  i was reading in the shepherding book that elders should “ cul­tivate and maintain friendships with one another.”, and thought to myself “bulls$it!” i remember that most of the elders in my old congregation were nothing but nasty asses.

  i know it may vary from congregation to congregation, but do elders generally get along with each other behind closed doors in elders meetings?

  or, are they often in conflict with each other?

  because my grandad was an old soldier and disapproved of Witness men of his generation being from WW2

  Diogenesister. Yes, I've met that type before. Never understood why these type of people would hold that against someone what they did before they were a witness. Many brothers and elders I knew when I was growing up were vets, and they got a lot of lip from those brothers that weren't during that time.

  I think that too many people in this world care too much about what these so called celebrities think, do, or say.

  These are people who really do nothing for a living but play make believe, dress up, and read other peoples words in front of a camera over and over until they finally get it just right. Yes, many of them get obscene sums of money, but does that make their opinion carry any more weight in the long run?

  These two, and others like them, are idiots who don't know how to market themselves. The day will come when they will be considered "has beens" and will wish they had the supporters they are trying to shame right now.

  but i do recall the cong was split into 2 cliques

  I’ve heard so much about congregations forming different cliques. Seems that this happens in many congregations.

  Amazing how few of them practice what they try to portray that they are united as a people.
