He can't even keep a smirk off his face, what a smug, condescending coward. He has the gall to compare his own promotion to a Branch Committee to the demotion of Bethelites? Incredible. -

JWs the kings of plagiarism
by Hecce inthe wt used to be rich for the quality of their public speakers, at the top of the ladder were the dos motivating the brothers on a weekly basis.
some of them used very folksy experiences related to the brothers as motivational tools, when you left the convention those experiences were the talk of the town.
i remember one very well qualified brother serving as do that was constantly using those sort of experiences as part of his arsenal, at one time he related one about a sister that new that she was going to die soon and while meeting with the family and brothers for final preparations she requested to be buried with a fork in her hand.

Thoughts on John 7:53-8:11??
by BarelyThere ini always accepted that the nwt said that these verses in john were not in the most reliable manuscripts.
i thought it was strange that while the "old" nwt at least included the verses, the "revised" nwt completely omits them.
now i'm trying to do research on my own, but my head is still spinning from all of the information i've taken in the past week.

The earliest reference to that passage appears to have been made in Papias, a church father who wrote in the early 2nd century and claims to have known disciples of the apostles. A few later commentators like Didymos the Blind quote his version of the story or quote similar versions that don't exactly fit with the text to John. Supposedly it came originally from the Gospel of the Hebrews, a 2nd century text which unfortunately has not been preserved. -

lovesjehovah, we can visit Bethel for whatever reason we like. By the way, your profile picture is of L from Death Note, I show / anime full of violence, sensuality, and spiritism. Should you be reading/ watching that as a good JW? -

Watchtower crackdown on anointed expansion - are they reaching for a solution to the expanding numbers problem?
by slimboyfat inif this has been discussed i missed it.
i think the january study watchtower is a concerted attempt to reduce the numbers claiming to be anointed.
but i love the sneaky way they go about it this time.

careful, you raise some very interesting points that I hope I can help address. I've only been able to locate a single description of an anointing experience, which I found on jwtalk, and I can explain in detail what happened psychologically that prompted it and so forth. If you're interested, PM me. Or I can just post it here. It's included in a paper I'm preparing for publication that addressespecially particular type of quote unquote mystical experience, which many other types of Christians have experienced and interpreted differently. The only reason the supposedly anointed witness interpreted this experience as an anointing process is the social context. I can go into more detail if you'd like. But in answer to your more general question, why not explain the anointing process? First, because it's likely variable, and if not everybody agrees on it then it will look bad. Second, because if you leave it mysterious it will seem more mysterious, when in fact it's rather mundane if the description I found can be generalized
