Did becoming a JW influence you to give up something you enjoyed ?
by smiddy3 inwhen i was a teenager a younger fellow workmate was involved in the sport of judo.i got interested and went along to a number of sessions and took to it like a sponge to water ,and as a sport i was happy participating in.. not that much longer another workmate was getting re-activated in the religion of jw`s.
which i had never heard o before and then got interested in that .. conflict : was judo a sport that was compatible with j.w beliefs?
sadly i decided it was not and stopped any further involvement.. to this day i resent that decision i made back then .and i`m 82 years old now.. it was a sport i was comfortable doing and i enjoyed it.and i gave it up because of the religion .who knows what i may have achieved had i continued with it.

Playing music. I had to SNEAK to musical instrument classes in high school and tell my PPIMI parents and SPIMI grandparent that I was being tutored after school for academic classes--especially since I didn't do well on specific exams. My music teacher helped me and some of my relatives who attended the same school because he had a couple of relatives who were dubs and was told that the Borg was discouraging children/yung wuns from participating in the arts. So, now that I'm in my late 50s, I'm still taking more music instruction--and getting better at it plus enjoying it more! 🎹🥁🎸🎷🎺

Grow up as a JW.
by fulano inmaybe a bit silly topic but i was watching some youtube films of the city where i grew up as a jw child.
i saw some youngsters fishing.. i was never allowed to:.
fishing, playing after school with boys from the neighbourhood, sing songs: birthday, christmas, santa claus (sinterklaas that is 5th dec), celebrate and treat your birthday, playing soccer/football with wordly boys in a club, dating girls untill i just did at 21 (yes jw girls, one kiss a week), work week, senior trip with the class, go to disco, have long hair in the seventies, wear jeans.. now the old bastards in their ninetees are wondering why we don’t want to see them anymore.

beings jesus was 30 when he took up his ministry, i would think that would sort of be an age gauge...the older men were to have their children in subjection, so some were old enough to have children that were old enough to want to rebel.

but as a very small child i remember someone very old aged 106 and that person was born around 1856 which means that he was around people from the 1700’s..

My grandmother passed away at age 94 in 1990. She was not a dub (NI= Never In), and she was the sweetest, kindest person anyone would ever want to meet. The good thing about her was that she could see through the Borg's rhetoric [and this was when GB1.0 (Sidlik, Schroeder, Jaracz, Swingle, etc.) was living. I really miss her very much!😥
