My point was simply that you can not get too deep into translations of languages and meaning when the WT had no intention of "correcting" mis-translations. They deliberately changed words to support their own belief.

"Obey" or "Be persuaded" at Hebrews 13.17
by Wonderment invarious posters have apparently concluded that the wt society is wrong by quoting hebrews 13.17 as a reason for christians to submit to, and be "obedient" to those taking the lead among them.
they have pointed out that the greek word for obedience is "hypakouo" or some other, not "pei'tho" which is the one that appears in the beginning of verse 17 at hebrews ch.
their motive for their objections may be one of rancor brought about by the extreme authoritative measures the society have imposed on the brotherhood.

And of course print a whole new batch of the NWT that everyone pretty much is forced to buy copies of every couple of years - when mortgages are due. -

Too deep.
Russell and others were confronted several times in court for fraud. Under oath he admitted that he could not read Hebrew, Greek, or Latin. The group just changed English words to control the herd. And they have done so all along.
Several Hebrew, Greek, and Latin scholars have called out the WT/JW translators for for 30 years to discuss or debate their translations. They have refused every invite - "due to fear of the safety of their translators".
They just change words.

Were Adam and Eve the only humans created?
by heyfea inmy husband asked me a questions that kind of stumped me for a moment.
he asked, in genesis, when cain killed abel, and god, as punishment cursed him and drove him from the land, making him a restless wanderer, why did cain say to god that the punishment was too hard; that anyone who found him would kill him?
who was going to kill him?

There are gaps in evolution that can not be explained. Why did man take giant leaps forward about 100,000-50,000 BC? A lot of Sumerian tablets from 10,000 BC. Why couldn't someone live 1000 years while the humans genes where radically changing/altered. I don't agree or disagree, but it is not impossible. We are trying to figure out how now to live a 1000 years.
The basic body has a limited warranty? It rejuvenates/recreates/heals for 70 years. Was it by design, or by failed attempts at more? We have so many things now that harm the body - foods, technology, flooding the planet with electronic waves, passing unknown/inexperienced/unplanned-for diseases around. You can't necessarily apply modern day life expediencies.

I would say that in way of documenting the period, by humanly, it had to be a fairly local exercise. I find it interesting that world wide so many people are so focused, and live their whole lives, base upon what happened in a few square miles of the middle east (OK in one area about the size of Texas - that is not the whole world. Rest your hopes on very small place?)
What if every culture had it's own Adam and Eve. Each has their own belief and documentation of the creation of people.
Inbreeding to such an extent to populate the whole world has real problems.
How were such a variety of all races and cultures introduced to only on blood line? We went Scandinavian, Latino, Chinese, Black, White, ect. from only one blood line?
What if the world at that time was a petri dish of experiments? Maybe a few regional floods/meteors/disasters cleaned the slate a few times to start over?
Genesis is only one local regional story of creation. Why in the world do people in California hang their hat, and hope, and faith, on stories from the middle east?

I think one thing for everyone to remember - honestly I do - the Watchtower and their not-for-profit tax shelter of the Jehovah's Witness do not control YOU. Never have. You are, and always have been, free to believe and/or conform to any belief you want. There are no contracts. (I heard a couple - but that is complete BS.)
Their power is over others - to make you feel bad - to get to/at you. You should never let them get to you. Talk to your friends/relatives. If they reject you because of the WT/JW - it is them under control.
I'd call or drop by when ever - not my problem. I am not banned. Not control over me. I have no regard for them The don't control me.

I think one is to be harsh and as cruel as can be to someone that does not follow the indoctrination rules. Very bad people.
The other is what they say to internal people to legitimize their actions and force them away from people. To justify their actions and convince others not to talk to them - or they may find out why they left and leave themselves.
As a cult - you cannot allow cult members to every associate with those that leave and find out why.
Cowards.
Hypocrites.

by Gorbatchov ini read some impressive figures here about the decline of the jw numbers in 2015.. could there be a correlation between this decline and the start of jw broadcasting?.
hence, that there would be an negative impact because the gb is standing so nearby, you can experience the idiot reasoning of their doctrines sitting in your own living room?.

I really miss the beefed up, steroid pumping, Mr. Rodgers role model. How can any one take any of that serious. Is that what the inside of a KH is like? I have a whole new disrespect for the WT/JW. I just thought I was being an ass. They are pretty f#%$@#%ed up.

Can a baptism be annulled?
by angel.face ini joined this site about 4 years ago and life was very different to say the least.
i was a jw and started the process of 'waking up' after experiencing life threatening blood loss due to complications of a pregnancy.
i was married with two kids (husband was an ms) and was a stay-at-home mom.

Huh? I don't see the WT/JW as a valid church, in practice or in doctrine. Russell was never an ordained minister from any real church. He didn't have any moral authority to baptize or ordain anyone else. He just made it up. Made up a group in his club house.
JW baptism is only as real as you believe it is. There are no binding contracts for anyone. Tell them to take a leap.
Russell's church is based upon Arius (300AD) who was excommunicated from the church, banished to the north, and ordered that all his writings and teachings be burned. (Arius recanted profusely and the local Roman magistrate ordered the church to reinstate him - he died two days before the event. Russell PROMISED the end of the world in 1914 - opps wrong measurements, must be 1915 - God got fed up and just killed him in 1916. .... always a day late.)

Why do people follow demonstrably False Prophets?
by WireRider inwhy does everyone just turn a blind eye to the false teachings of the watchtower?
the bible warns us many times and in many ways not to follow false prophets - including the lake of fire.
fundamentally why do the followers of the watchtower just ignore the very bible they claim to live by?.

just shut up WireRider.
I lost track. I am not Jewish. I am not anti Jewish at all. I am not referencing the OT. I was talking about issues with those incorrectly forcing wrong interpretations of the NT. I don't like liers.
Why are you hear if you hate Christians? Or those otherwise falsely claim to be Christians.
