@punkofnice ... I would love to hand in a DA letter and tell em to shove their religion up their a**es.
But I've only woken up in the last few months, have a wife and loads of family on both sides (inc elders, MS's, pios). I don't want to do anything rash just yet.I've missed loads of meeting, am now irregular (and had my 'privileges' taken away); so I'm making good progress!
I find the more angry I get about the borg, the more trapped & powerless I feel, which in turn just makes me more angry. I don't know how long I'll be able to put up with this.
Damn, I hate this rancid excuse for a religion! -

Closing down of all non-native congregations in The Netherlands
by Gorbatchov inthis weekend serious sources told me that in the netherlands the society is closing down all non-native congregations.
because of the mixed population of this country, there are >100 non-native congregations like english, france, dutch-caribian, arab, chinese, italian, russian, spanish etc.. my source was backing the dissision of the society because "these non-native congregations are islands on their own, with group-thinking and not allways listening to the society..." and concluded "these non-natives has to learn dutch instead of we are learning their language".. strange: some years ago many jw's learned a foreign language (like arab or chinese!
) and now they are all closing down.

A few notes from experience of local foreign language cong that dealt mostly with middle-eastern asylum seekers:
- Pioneers get to count some time learning the language as ministry time. Big plus for pioneers.
- No house-to-house ministry; mostly return visits or street work. Big plus for pioneers.
- 'Rice christians' were commonplace - witnesses have 'studies' round for meals - counts as field ministry hours. Big plus for pioneers. Illegal immigrants like free food.
- Lots of time spent socializing
- Most studies wanted help with immigration and to learn English - not really interested in Bible.
- Some asylum seekers were extremely dangerous.
- Foreign language CO warned elders of commonplace problem in foreign languages congregations: Witnesses join foreign language congs to 'hide' from their previous cong. Then they get up to all sorts of naughtiness. This cong had DFs for adultery and homosexuality.
- Congregation evetually shut down due to lack of asylum seekers coming to this area.

I went to our meeting (hated every second of it).
One elder called the GB 'the voice of Jehovah' ... that really annoyed me.
re: the KM article, the application was 'not showing prejudice in the ministry'. -

New rules for talk recordings?
by discreetslave ini was told this is the new arrangement re recordings made known only to the boe.
can someone confirm this?.
one congregation cd is made of meetings, assemblies & dc to pass on to publishers who want to hear it.

Possible reason:
At DC's they already have a problem with people sitting in their cars and listening on the radio rather sitting in the back-breaking, freezing cold football stadiums.
If you can just download the the DC from the internet and listen to it at home, why bother with all the hassle of attending.(come to think of it, why bother attending anyway)

Wow!
Harold Camping isn’t so bad though; after all, he was a factor in waking me up to ‘the truth’!
Back in May, I was still an active witness, but had just recently started listening to those nagging voices in my head regarding what we’d all been taught as JW’s.
When I heard about him and his followers spending all their money advertising the Rapture, I immediately thought “What a bunch of nutcases!”
No sooner had this thought popped in my head, than I realised the sheer hypocrisy in my thinking. What he was preaching wasn’t SO different from what I was preaching door-to-door. And his actions and those of his followers were just as sincere in their efforts as I was.
If I could look objectively at what they were doing and see the craziness of it all, what does that say about my own actions?
A door was opened in my thinking that could never be closed....
Maybe something useful will come from this article – I know I wouldn’t have been able to talk to anyone on the service about this article. Maybe it will wake up a few other JW’s to the foolishness of what they’re doing.

The Ideas Thread - all are welcome!
by cedars insorry it's been a while since i posted anything.
i've kind of had my hands full of late.
there are some things i want to say, but i am saving some of it for a more appropriate time.. i thought i would start a simple "ideas thread" as a thread on which we can, well, share our ideas!

If you want to get peoples attention, I think you need to discuss what they're interested in, more than what we're interested in.
I think the general public's main interest re: JW's is 'How can we stop them calling on us?'My suggestion:
FED UP WITH JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES CALLING ON YOU?
As a former Jehovah's Witness I regularly called on this and other homes in your vicinty. I am sorry to have troubled you in the past.
I would like to inform you of an arrangement that all Jehovah's Witnesses are aware of, but do not disclose to the general public.
If you would like Jehovah's Witnesses to NEVER call on your home again, simply ask them next time they come around to add you to their 'DO NOT CALL LIST'. They will know exactly what you're talking about and they will make arrangements not to call on your house again.
If you're interested in why my conscience no longer allows me to remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and why all people should avoid them, here are some of the reasons, some of which most Jehovah's Witnesses are not even aware of:
- Blood
- Shunning
- UN - NGO
- 100% failed prophecy
- Mexico Malawi
- Rewrite their history
- Characteristics of a cult
- + any others
Please keep this leaflet handy for next time Jehovah's Witnesses call on you, so you know what to say to them. You may even want to ask them about some of the bullet points listed.
Once again, sorry for any disturbance caused on my previous visits.
I've only put basic bullet points for now - they would need to presented in neat concise sentences.
If a leaflet drop of a couple of hundred was done in a street that had JW's living in it, not only would the public get it, but it would come to the attention of the local congregation.
The public would hear what they want to hear, and it could put the frighteners on the local JW's. It may prompt any that find about out it through the cong grapevine to look for themselves (or ask questions of elders). If there were streets that had even 50% DNC's, I reckon this could affect the local congs attitude to field service. Copies could also be sent to the news media.
Just an idea....
(Excuse me while I go off and have sleepless night over daring to suggest this on here ... I'm a bit new to all this)

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Between my wife and I, we have 60+ family members that are JW's, so I'm a bit outnumbered.
I'm going to have to tread very carefully.... -

Hi Everyone,
I'm one of those newbie/lurker types.
I reached my decision that JW's don't have the truth about 6 weeks ago. It was after that that I found this site. All your experiences and information you've provided have been a great help. Thank you all!The last few weeks have been a real rollercoaster, but I've learned a lot from reading your post. Based on what's been expressed here, I can expect a pretty tough time ahead. The fact that so many have spoken so positively about your experiences post-JW though, gives me confidence that I can do this.
Thanks again to everyone...
