What has been your response with telling "devout" JW's about the UN scandal
by booker-t ini was talking to a elderly jw's lady at the donut shop the other day and i brought up the un and the wt scandal.
this woman told me that i was lying and that jw's leaders would never be apart of a "satanic" org as the un.
she said that "apostates" are spreading vivious lies about jw's and are only telling half truths.

I haven’t actually told any one, except discussing this with my wife at the time. She was truly shocked. However we are now divorced and she despite reading “crisis of conscience” has thrown herself into the truth totally.
It seems the fear factor is very strong.
I digress.
For me in my passage out of the Borg it has to do with dishonesty.
Now let me make this clear. I am not saying I agree with the society’s position of the library card or not. For me that is not the issue.
The issue is that people, as this response on the topic has shown have been stumbled.
They should apologise and have said sorry, we have made a mistake.
Part of me can believe that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. The Borg is too big, it is a monster with a life of its own. If they had apologised they would have demonstrated humility and honesty.
In the march 15th 2006 wt article they have a whole study article on aspects of stumbling!!!!!!
The irony of counselling people to have the right viewpoint, when they miss the whole point themselves!!!!
Now that is a scandal in its own right..... -

I love film music and in particular the music of John Barry.
He is a British film composer who was proberly more known in the 60's 70's and 80's.
He is famous for the James Bond music and while that is excellent, his other work is even better.
Music from films such as Born Free, Somewhere in Time, Dances with Wolves, Midnight Cowboy, Out of Africa, Walkabout, Chaplin, Last Valley, The Lion in Winter, Body Heat are just some of his classic music soundtracks.
My great sorrow is that in the last few years his writing has become less. He has produced 2 great albums that are deserving in their own right The beyondness of Things, and Eternal Echoes.
His music help me cope and for me inspirational.

In the circuit I am in, the CO has known about going to London for some weeks.
When they arrange meals for them along with field service arrangements it was said that he would be away for Thursday only and a stand-in would be with them for this day.
I know he did his bit at the cong on Tuesday night (this week) and told the congregation that he was going down to London on late Wednesday but would be back for ministry Friday 9:15 a.m. sharp!
On Tuesday night there was nothing about it being a 2 day event, but he did say that he hoped to tell them all about it later in the week!

If you must send in a letter and play by their rules,
Send them a letter that YOU disfellowship them for THEM for
conduct unbecoming of a christian organisation.
For added comfort a small ad in the local paper would cetainly get their attention.

Where do they sit in your hall?
by ns7 inwhat i find bemusing is, if there are any disfellowshipped ones in your hall they have to sit at the back.
now without getting into the merits/rights/wrongs of whether this should be still acceptable, where do they sit in your hall?
you see i seem to remember that they would sit on the back row, come in quietly just after the song and prayer and leave at the end just as quick.

This is getting interesting?
People need to be treated as people. It’s supposed to be one of the 2 commandments Jesus gave.(Not supposed- It IS!)
Now none of us are perfect, and when I do something that I am not particularly proud of, I am hard on myself, mentally and with lots if good intention to do better. I am referring to normally everyday things. Losing or snappy temper, upsetting someone inadvertently, something at work ete, ete,.
I am still human though. I might not want sympathy, but I would want to be treated as a human (or as Quark states in DS9 Huu-mon)
So good on you if, if you tried just a little welcome, a knowing and sympathetic look, even just a open posture showing that we have nothing to fear.
I say this not with the intention of keeping people in but with the intention of doing the right thing.I saw a film recently The Generals Daughter” usual mystery, Thriller. Who dun it. Great line said to the investigating officer
"There are 3 ways to do this. The right way. The wrong way and the Army way”Substitute army for Jw and you see the parallel.
In my Hall they sit –if any do come – at the back wall. No chairs for them as such. Put there by attendants. With a 10-12 feet open space isle between the wall and the next(back) row. Any going to toilets or walking to the back are there for all to be seen.

Greetings all
What I find bemusing is, if there are any disfellowshipped ones in your hall they have to sit at the back. Now without getting into the merits/rights/wrongs of whether this should be still acceptable, where do they sit in your hall?
You see I seem to remember that they would sit on the back row, come in quietly just after the song and prayer and leave at the end just as quick. There would be this unwritten rule that some may sit there. But what I have noticed in my hall and in neighbouring congregations is that they will sit along a row of chairs placed along the back wall, usually where an attendants sits. This sends messages to all those in the cong who are there, a very subtle message (I don’t think) that we have the spiritual unclean with us. Even if they have family they can’t seem to sit discreetly at the back.
Where did this stupid rule come in?
It just seems that if any did want any to return we seem to excel at making them jump through hoops, just so that they can show this humbly, repentant attitude.
