We were taught sickness and death is a result of the sin inherited from Adam and Eve, so why do animals get cancer? They are supposedly still as big J intended, so therefore cancer is a creation by the big fella himself?. Just an exercise for one's who believe in the whole Bible story thing.. (not me)... any others anomalies you can think of ?

So I got a message from my Auntie yesterday
Hi normalfulla , i was hoping id see you at the memorial this saturday 😊i miss you and the family. Please dont be one of the ones that give up right at the end. Even the world know that there's something going to happen they even hv songs on it.I miss seeing your happy face you are the only one that could help my family as well . I know there's heaps of others that miss you as well and what a joy it wld bring to us all if we saw you. Xoxo
My response
Oh hi Auntie 😊. 1st of all let me say thank you, I'm incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful, loving and fun bunch of family in my life, including you! U must be proud as a parent to have raised such genuine people. I am an honest person and so am sorry to say I won't be attending the memorial which I know may sadden you 😢. Many things for me didn't add up about what I was taught to believe so eventually I did independent objective research and found that "the truth" is not what it claims to be, in fact far from it... and that depressed me immensely but I had to do what was right for me and my family despite the heavy repercussions from questioning or disagreeing with the organisation. I know for you the belief that we will die soon in armageddon is almost too much to bear but please ponder the reality that there is evidence and proof that what is taught is not true.. I would be an idiot to condem myself and my beloved children to death just to miss some meetings and field service x x love you Auntie
Her response
Well normalfulla i know conditions are going to get pretty bad and I'd rather have Jehovah to rely on than man.
Poor lady, my cousins are all out and their relationship with their mum is only complicated by her WT delusion, none were baptised, at least they have a relationship with her but she is always always on at them to come back before armageddon, thankfully they all know ttat but keep it to themselves.

Does the Watchtower have an official position on Alcoholics Anonymous?
by JeffT ini ask because i'm working in a 28 day residential addiction treatment center and one of my co-workers is studying with the jw's.
he does not know i'm an xjw.
i suspect that at some point they're going to tell him he can't go to aa meetings anymore.

I had a friend who was disfellowshipped twice for his alcoholism, he credits the aa for him getting sober and still attends weekly even tho he's back in the org, it's like a spin off religion to him, he even met Ozzy Osborne at one of the meetings! , so he's a super zealous jw who attends aa meetings with no problems between the two.... That's my 2 cents

Lloyd Evans' New Book - Is It Really Necessary?
by pale.emperor inso lloyd evans will shortly be releasing his new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.
i do enjoy his rebuttals and the stuff he manages to get hold of and leak.
but i'm struggling to understand what he could possibly write to merit a whole book.. all info on how to leave is right here on this forum.

Well if this isn't judging a book by its cover I don't know what is... I have read the reluctant Apostate and I personally thought it was great, sure some info in there I was already aware of but it was presented well and it was nicely woven into his personal story, as for the 2nd book I have pondered the thought "what's the point" but until it has been read a valid opinion cannot exist

Massive hints against alcohol
by purrpurr inin the most recent assembly there were several heavy hints about not drinking alcohol at all.
saying that it doesn't give a good witness or would stumble others.. is this a new "unwritten directive?.

I've been privy to many an organised jw function at a bar etc, for the most part the bar is always happy, jws love their booze. I can attest to this personally knowing many many hard core boozers however I doubt whether this behaviour is at a greater concentration in the org than in general society

Jehovah's Witnesses child sexual abuse cover up gets broadcast across Canadian television.
by Finkelstein inwell the shit has finally hit the fan here in chanda for the jws.. an hour long investigative journalist program called w5 went deep into the jws's pedophilia cover up problems that have been on going for decades within the jws religion.. .
i think its good thing for the public to realize how religions can and will coverup egregious acts which are serious crimes in most countries just to up hold a clean wholesome image around their organizations.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1zlhbk6ihm.

Wow, just watched the full version on YouTube, a powerful and moving look at what is verbatim on this forum.
A question, I have relatives in Canada who I hope will at least know of this, how popular is this channel, I have no idea about Canadian tv

A very charismatic man indeed , I have a catch phrase burned into my mind from a talk of his "DOESN'T BOTHER MY CONSCIENCE " it's in caps cos he repeated it so often and it was probably clipping the speakers it was that loud

So, sadly one of my former friends passed away last night.. only info I have is he died in his sleep ,he was early 40s elder and awesome person, he suffered from depression and also type 1 diabetes and since his passing I've have thought about something he said to me once that "it would be easy for him to not take his meds and go to sleep and not wake up " now it may not be suicide but sad nonetheless.
A PO's son 18 ended his life after a minor run in with the law , another witness I knew drove his car off a cliff 2 years ago his last words to his wife were "see you in the new system "
Our country has one of the worst rates of suicide, it needs to be talked about more

Younger Witnesses less fanatical or fundamental
by optimisticskeptic ini am a born in jw for over 30 years now and have been in various positions in the organization.
now i'm guessing most of us recognize that older generations tend to be more fundamental and less reasonable when it comes to their outlook and beliefs.
i find this to mirror the differences you see outside of the organization as well (older people less tolerant of other religions, newer technology, lgbt, etc.).

I'm around that age and almost all my former friends don't fall into that category, they are just as blind as the average jw and just as scared of anything negative about the org .
