Elder Told A JW To Ignore Governing Body Advice

i had an interesting conversation with a fellow ex-jw yesterday.

for the sake of this post lets call her "katie".

katie is a former pioneer who suddenly stopped attending meetings and managed to be left alone by the elders.

Apostate carts

so i've recently been travelling about usa and mexico and of course seen the carts parked at tourist spots all over and i had a funny thought ...if somehow we could get a bunch of identical carts together and print up a placard with a few key facts about the real truth with jwfacts logo and just park them right in the same areas ,dress up in our old meeting clothes and stand about with a coffee and look on our phones i wonder what response we would get from anyone ?

or park them outside assembly's and just stand.off at a distance ...basically the same thing they do to all society !.

Part of Growing Up - Saying Goodbye to Invisible Friends?

i don’t remember having any invisible friends when i was a really little boy, i don’t know if such a thing actually exists, i’ve only ever seen it in movies?

of course it might have looked to others like i was talking to someone on occasions, but i’m sure it would have just been me talking to myself.

the thing is though, i got introduced to an invisible friend in my pre-teens, and i kept the relationship going well into adulthood.

I find this subject very profound in some aspects .. many of us know if a person has an imaginary friend ,talks to them daily as though they are real ,also some who have lost loved ones and believe they are present watching over the person in question ,they will often "talk to them " as if they were really there ,this compounds a mental dilemma of the imagined friend who becomes real to them the more they entertain the notion of them being there literally ,

It may be very real for the person who thinks their "imaginary " friend is there but to me calls to mind the quotes you hear from deranged ones like "the devil himself told me to !"

What is real to someone may not necessarily be real !!

back in 2005, i remember sitting in the stadium in the special rows with 42 others.

8000 people were looking at us - maybe even with a binocular - while listening to the speech.

my family and my friends among them, being all proud of me.. i don't remember being enthusiastic.

I was 16, felt sick with nerves had to do the huge(fast) walk to the toilets and puked up, no good memories there

What has been your own personal experience of shunning?

i am interested in finding out on a small scale the extent of which shunning has impacted on you personally.. my own experience is that when i faded about 12 years ago.

the woman whose house the book study was held at (and who was virtually a neighbour) walked right past me in my own street.

i remember it so well.

My wife and I faded fairly recently, I had a deep talk to my Uber elder brother who I love dearly and told him a few facts about the truth... He doesn't want to talk to me anymore, my sisters are both strictly no contact...im Not disfellowshipped, not doing anything wrong just don't go to meetings and field service and that is worthy of virtual death.... Soo f$#%kd up, I love these people and they are throwing a normal sibling loving relationship away cos the GB says so... Huge sad face

The popularity fad of home-schooling!

i know this has been discussed over the years on this forum, but i just had to post this again!.

it seems that the popular fad amongst the "spiritual" ones in the local circuits is to home school their children instead of sending them to school.. now to clarify, we are in a very nice area of semi rural australia .

one with very community minded, and strong family values.

OMG, my Uber elder brother who lives in Canada pulled his 6yr old child out of school so his wife can homeschool him and his 4 yr old brother, they live in a medium sized clean and good town in B.C, I almost wept to think of all the normal things school helps u deal with that they will miss out on, not to mention as a jw yr supposed to learn to stand up for yr beliefs and endure some ridicule as u know "they will persecute u also" but instead they will be ill equipped and handicapped to the real life and may find it overwhelming when they will have to venture out and face reality, oh man my poor nephews! Huge sad face

First time back in a KH in 8 months

so... one of my employees is a miserable servant and was giving the pt and invited me to come knowing full well i was faded out, i go along cos i respect him and thought why not, i must admit i was a little nervous headed back there (a neighboring hall not my old one) i saw alot of familiar faces and some old friends who were aware of my fade, all so pleased to see me at a meeting again and i can sum up how i felt about the experience like this.. .

have you ever been to a party and been the only sober person there and are totally aware of the ridiculous things said and going on?

that's what it felt like except the party would have been more fun of course,... all these good people, drunk off their heads on wt propaganda and false hopes, the irony was the talk was titled "does your life have meaning?".

Life is beautiful... THIS life is beautiful, to all those stupid #bestlifeever instagrammers out in service, enjoy yr dogshit #chocolatepudding

"Historical" Announcement This Week?

my daughter asked if anyone has heard anything about a 'big announcement' being made sometime this week in congregations in canada and possibly beyond... in her words "it's like a biggggg long thing, they cut out part of the book study for it and people heard it was a historical thing"... any ideas?

could it be the mexican branch closing or the theme of the convention?

or something else?
