Hoist by their own petard: Using w86 4/1 30, 31 for your own defence
by rory-ks inthe april 1, 1986, watchtower, questions from readers is still the basis upon which jehovah's witnesses see fit to act against so-called apostates.
it is, however, completely shot through with discrepancies and weak arguments.
all of these can be used to build a solid defence.

Rory, what is GKOATYHA., please?
4. C.T. Russell searched the scriptures independently. He was not tied to any religious affiliation. “God’s Kingdom of A Thousand Years Has Approached” categorically states, on page 185, “Thirty years later found a small group of men, not associated with the Adventists or affiliated with any of the religious sects of Christendom, studying the Holy Scriptures at Pittsburgh (Allegheny), Pennsylvania, U.S.A. They studied independently so as to avoid looking at the Bible through sectarian spectacles. Among these men was one Charles Taze Russell, just entered into his twenties.”

What made you leave?
by CuriousUK inapologies if this has been discussed before, but i am really very interested in finding out why members here left their congregations for lives away from jw?.
was there a "lightbulb" moment where you just woke up one day and realised that you had been brainwashed?
or a slow realisation over time?

your boyfriend is a Captive of a Concept , it's not his fault, it has and still has us all to varying degrees: Jesus inspected all other christian religions in 1918 and chose the WTS in 1919 as his "faithful and discreet slave". the book uses ONLY The Watchtower magazines and other books printed by Jehovah's Witnesses from many years ago that shaped their incorrect application of Matt 24:45-47 to themselves. that is one of the best bits of this book. it uses JW literature to show that it was impossible for Jesus to chose them based on what they were teaching back then. this history has come later to me, i'm no longer a captive but i am still trapped (for now). what released my mind from believing Jehovah's Witnesses taught the truth was just one thing to start with,
it was this:Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians in 607bce
while researching for a public talk i Googled "jerusalem destroyed by babylon" what i came across was EVERY non-jw said it happened at a different date, some 20yrs later. Wikipedia, Jewish Encyclopedia you name it, this included historians that specialise in the ancient middle east, the actual digging of the areas had revealed Babylon to be one of the best 'finds' ever unearthed. THOUSANDS of sale reciepts and invoice type records for the local businesses and traders all included the name of the King who were reigning at the time. when documented ALL the kings that were already known from other sources were confirmed in these original clay tablets. none are missing or extra.
Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians in 587bce
it comes down to this: without 607bce the Governing Body of the WTS/JW's can not put Jesus invisible return as king in heaven at 1914. which equals = no inspection could have been done in 1918, which equals = no 1919 appointment of the FDS as being 'Gods sole channel of communication today', which equals = It's All A Big Con Job
if you were to ask a JW when a big event in history happened they would google it or look it up in an encyclopedia and have no qualms or problems in believing it as a fact. They do not do this with Jerusalems destruction by the Babylonians. To JW's it could be the only thing in the enyclopedia that is wrong, everything else is accepted as facts. It truly is quite a phenomenon.
all because of being Captives of a Concept
Edit: it is 587bce

Genesis 6:4 - where did the Giants come from if they were wiped out by the flood?
by BroMac in(genesis 6:1-4) 6 now it came about that when men started to grow in numbers on the surface of the ground and daughters were born to them, 2 then the sons of the [true] god began to notice the daughters of men, that they were good-looking; and they went taking wives for themselves, namely, all whom they chose.
3 after that jehovah said: my spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh.
accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years.

Thanks Shanagirl.
"The Nephilim are described in great detail in the Book of Jubilees and Book of Enoch . Both of these books have been traditionally rejected as apocryphal by the European Church. However, they were both considered canonical by the Ethiopic Church from the time of Christ until today, and the Book of Enoch was quoted in the Biblical Epistle of Jude ."

Enoch ii, xxvi 2
Behold, he comes with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon them, and destroy the wicked, and reprove all the carnal for everything which the sinful and ungodly have done and committed against him. ... [who utter with their mouths unbecoming language against God, and speak harsh things of his glory.]
Jude 14,15
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, "Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." -

i missed an underline
4 The Neph′i·lim proved to be in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of the [true] God continued to have relations with the daughters of men and they bore sons to them, they were the mighty ones who were of old, the men of fame.
what i mean is: so if the Nephilim were the result of Angels getting it on with the lady's, did they get it on again after the flood?

From Noah's Ark to Australia - Awake! Jan. 8, 1969 pp. 5-8
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inso, how did the kangaroos get from noah's ark to australia?
i'd never found any references in watchtower litteratrash, until i stumbled upon this farticle "from noah's ark to australia" in the 1969 awake bound volume.
most of it is wordy and rather pointless, so i only typed two middle subheadings for consideration:.
