I hope your wish comes true BOTR.
I, too, was 12 when The Beatles hit the American scene. Being from Cali I was a fan of the Beach boys and the other lesser surf bands. Something strange came over me though, when I first heard and saw The Beatles. IT WAS LOVE!!! All my friends liked Paul the best but I picked Ringo. I'll never forgot my staunch JW fathers reaction to seeing them on the Ed Sullivan TV show. He yelled that they were "faggots playing an African jungle beat"
I was not allowed to have their records or watch them on TV. Had to be a fan at my friends house whos parents were more rational JWs. She had every record, teen mag, and poster available. We would pretend to marry Paul and Ringo hahahah! We saw "A Hard Days night" and screamed our lungs out. What good memories!

Why is this saying not included in JW wedding services?
by truthseeker inso simple, yet it could have prevented so many broken marriages if someone had just said something.... .
"therefore, if any man can show any just cause why they may not lawfully be joined together let him speak now or else hereafter forever hold his peace".

I'm marrying in my teens 'cause my parents are afraid my 1st boyfriend and me will engage in "loose conduct" or God forbid, the big no no and receive the fate worse than death... DF! I'm marring in my teens 'cause I hate living under the vicegrip of my JW parents and I think I'll have way more fun married. LOL

Mouthy, You gave a wonderful answer to those who lack empathy for those grieving genuine loss. You have suffered more loss than anyone I know. You could have let it kill you or harden you into bitterness and hate. You didn't, and I applaud- ((((((MOUTHY))))))
I am too new in my exit of the WT$ to have decided definately about God, no God, or Agnostic. For now, I have decided not to rush- to decide not to decide. IMHO, what many have not learned since leaving the WT$ is humility, empathy, and common courtesy.

by cedars intoday is my first anniversary as a jwn member.
it's hard to believe that only a year has passed since i joined, but i feel that's a testament to how much i have been welcomed and made to feel like part of the furniture.. i would very much like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the forum for the immense help and assistance i have received, particularly in my first few weeks/months of posting.
it truly was a lifeline at a very distressing time for me.

....and a new wrinkle
by outsmartthesystem inso i was giving my daughter a hug at bed time last night.
she stands up at the foot of her bed and wraps her arms around my neck.
she then asks why i don't serve jehovah anymore.

Dear Outsmart, The purpose of my previous post was to let you know that your wife might not intentionally be turning your daughter against you. However the WTBTS INTENTIONALLY wants to alienate believers from "apostates deserving of death". The Enemy is the Watchtower. Regardless what becomes of your marriage, you will both need to get along enough to parent your daughter. Pick your battles. Assume the problem is the Watchtower because it is.
The good news is this: After my divorce with their father, my teenage children decided they preferred to be with their unbelieving father rather than me.(I still was an active JW) There is much good advice here. Don't dispare. When children are very young, everything is either black or white, good or bad. As they get older they can reason things out better.(especially with your help)

Advice needed please.
by tenene ini've been a lurker here for about a year and a half.
i am a baptised jw(born-in).. i was a publisher in good standing until about last december when i stopped putting in fs time as well as attending meetings and conventions including this year's memorial.. i no longer believe in the teachings of the watchtower society.. about 3 weeks ago an elder and a ms from my cong came to ny house uninvited and told me they were just checking on me and wanted to find why i haven't been to the meetings for such a long time.
they told me it was not an official visit, but sort of hinted to me that if i don't show up then i might be getting an official one soon.

Tenene, Welcome! There are numerous past threads that are devoted to advice on how to sucessfully fade. Go to the search button and call up the subject.
The most important thing to remember is it is ALWAYS a bad idea to talk to the Elders. If they call don't answer. If they leave messages to call them-don't. If they drop by unexpectedly, don't answer the door. If someone else in your family answers the door say you are indisposed and refuse to talk to them. Period. Anything you say can and will be used against you later. The best armor is to STAY OUT OF RANGE. Eventually they will give up if you don't say or do anything publicly to draw attention to yourself or your not believing anymore. This includes facebook and other sites where you use your real name.
I wish you sucess out of the stranglehold of the Watchtower.

I'd love to see a title like "Safegaurd Children from Pedophiles". Of course, there is a slim chance of that.
