  it was held at the santa clara convention center in the silicon valley http://www.santaclara.org/conventioncenter/ which is an improvement over the old s.f.

  cow palace which is still used..just not as much.

  My first husband and I moved to a town that only had one Eng. congregation. It soon became appearent that we were NOT welcome and the Elders were particulary mean and self-rightous. We hated the atmosphere there but were stuck for three years until we were able to move out of the area. Even when I was still in I wouldn't visit that hall if I had a gun to my head!

  DOC, Yup, I have to admit why and how I know this kind of thing goes on. 1: My father did it BIG TIME and it woked every time. 2: My uncle did it. worked great for him too. Knowing how easily COs and DOs are favorably influenced by large sums of money helped me to start waking up.

  Edit to add: EE I totally agree with your point that in Dubbieland "no greater honor could there be" than to represent the FDS and GB at their District conventions. It is a public endorcement.

  There was another which had the line :"The sword of Jehovah and of Giddeon" The pink book changed the lyric to "And work for it's sanctification" It watered down the message. LOL

  I also remember the old green songbook. There was a song I'll bet the society would like to revive. It was something like "Follow the greater Jeptha" The line was "Follow the Greater Jeptha who can not fail. Following him we will prevail." I can still remember my dad singing it with gusto!
