Good post Terry. #9 Is interesting to me because my father flew overseas with Knoor a number of times before 1952. (when the vaccination ban was lifted.) They had to have a passport to travel to these countries and they had to have all the required vaccinations to obtain the passport. Smells like hypocracy don't you think? When I was born in '52 I was not given the vaccinations that doctors routinely gave babies. My parents both had passports and were vaccinated but chose to withhold them from me. (more hypocracy) I'm glad "Ceasar" forced the polio vaccine in order to enter shool. When I came down with an unusually severe case of chicken Pox mom was worried that it was smallpox and sheepishly told the doctor that she had failed to have me innoculated. he he

Why do I keep reading here about a new "10 Hour Pioneer" arrangement?
by RubaDub inthere seems to be several discussions about a new 10 hour pioneer arrangement that was susposedly announced at the 2014 annual meeting.. i even called a couple who usually get invited each year and they said that there was nothing like that mentioned.
they just mentioned the "new" stuff had to do with the jw tv thing, the language app, the changes regarding gog of magog, the talents, the virgins, etc.
but absolutely nothing about 10 hour pioneers.. rub a dub.

My appeal was successful. Now what?
by noonehome infaders: why do we bother staying in?.
we cling to some false hope that people we love will accept us despite our not believing, even though its as much a fairytale as the dogmas based on untruths.. ive never been anything but a good friend and human being and would do anything for the people i love; i couldnt dream of shutting out someone i care about.
and its not like theyd revel in the idea of doing it either, yet its seen as not just the only choice, but also as undoubtedly the right thing to do.

noonehome, Sorry you are feeling low today. The good news is you acomplished something amazing! Hardly anyone ever wins a JW appeal and in so doing you have won FREEDOM. Why do I say freedom? Because you are free to talk to ANY person in the world who will talk to you. When I learned TTATT 3 years ago I was extremely angry and wanted to DA. I wanted to tell Watchtower "You can't fire me, I quit! I am glad now I was talked out of it. Lately I've been reverse witnessing to my best JW friend and it's working! She has all but stopped meetings and now wants to discuss: Where do I go from here? and What do I teach my daughter? Winning your appeal does not mean you have to be a JW. Walk out the door and stay free.

Witness Weddings "Introducing Brother and Sister...!"
by stuckinarut2 ini can not stand it when the speaker at a witness wedding introduces the new couple as "brother and sister_____".
how messed up does that sound especially to non-witnesses??.
just another stupid witness tradition that makes the rest of the world see how crazy they are!.

Do you suffer from WELTSCHMERZ?
by yadda yadda 2 indefinition of weltschmerz1: mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state 2: a mood of sentimental sadness.
as a jw, horrific news and reports of terrible suffering and tragedy never especially shocked or disturbed me because of the conviction i had that it was all temporary suffering caused by satan and the demons and it was soon to end and be replaced by a wonderful new system where all those who suffered and died would be resurrected.
it took the edge off life's harshness.. these fantastical beliefs innoculated me against really feeling and empathisizing with the reality of the horror and suffering experienced by so many in this world.

I have never tried Heroin or opium so I don't know what they feel like, but addicts of opiates have reported that the high was so good and powerful that they were addicted after the first try. The JW religion seldom made me happy or high. While there were some good times and some good friends with JW's I was mostly numb. All I had was the addiction without the buzz. Weltschmerz is as good as any to describe it. Now that I am finally out and for the first time in 6 decades I have made a conscious choice to be a little selfish. Knowing I can't fix the world's problems, I avoid disturbing news programs. I do help individuals in need and that makes me feel better than any work I did as a JW.

Let's suggest some programs for tv.jw.org
by rebel8 inweekday afternoons: a soap opera featuring judicial committees, demon possessions, and wives clamoring to be the ones who host the circuit overseer's lunch.
saturday mornings: sparlock cartoon.
friday evenings: reality show featuring jw dating.

Terminology the Society Hates?
by toweragent inin my most recent talk, i got counseled for using some terms that were not prefered.
for example i said "new testament" rather than "the christian greek scriptures".
i also used the term "gospel", but even worse, i made reference to the "synoptic gospels" and the "gnostic gospel".. i guess i never thought of it before, but when i looked at the societies information on the matter they always say things like, "the so-called new testament..." or "the so-called synoptic gospels..." why with all the "so-called?".

Don't say podium say speakers stand. Idiotic! The Society doesn't want us to call them the Society anymore either. It's Governing Body, FDS, Mother, or Your Royal Highness

They don't even like you to use THEIR terminology if they have changed it. Informant became Our Kingdom service which became the Kingdom Ministry. Contact point became rendezvous which became meeting for service. I'm sure they're others I have forgotten.

Welcome Capstone, You are having a bad day. Here is a hug from me. The teen years are stressful enough and now you are in the awkward stage of being between friends. At this point, don't you think that having a couple of GENUINE friends is better than a Kingdom Hall full of CONDITIONAL ones? Try to make more real friends at school by being cheerful, friendly, and interested in others. Ask a prospect about themself -like what they do for hobbies or fun, music they like, movies, etc. People LOVE to talk about themselves. Be a good listener. You will have more friends in no time. Also we will always be here for you.
