I don't mean to be disrespectful to the deaf community, but really?? Who would appoint someone who can't read to be an elder?

to funny nice job....
We might expect this from 15 yo's but these idiots are MUCH older. Maybe their parents should ground them and take away their cell phones.

MNIONC, I did not mean to insult you. I sincerely want things to go well for your family. I misspoke when I said you did not tell us he was your stepson. I meant to say you didn't tell us until page 4 and on your 8th reply. I understand why you left it out but not having that fact affected our advice some.
You also said there is more to the story but you are afraid there might be too many identifiers and chose not to tell us. That's wise in your situation but there might be something relevant that we would need to know in order to make an informed reply. My point is it is hard to give sound advice without knowing all of the facts.
Hopefully, you will be able to use what works for you and disregard the rest.

Chris H, I see your point. Playing the victim card can be VERY effective, especially if she is attractive. She will have the elders backing if she is able to sell the idea that he is endangering her "spirituality". This, in turn, could be part of a plan to separate and remain in "good standing".
We don't have all of the facts either. MNIONC didn't even tell us that it is his stepson, yet that fact is relevant. I like what Freesoul said too.

Chris H, If you carefully read my first post you'll see that the advice I give has no bearing on whether he is a witness or not. The second post is letting her know that she and the elder are stumbling him. The Bible who she claims to follow directs wives to be in subjection regardless if the husband believes or not. He needs to remind her of that as well as take over the boys study.
If he chooses not to do this then he is letting the tail wag the dog.
wow, what a great book.
i started reading it today and have not been able stop.
im already 80 pages in!
