@Simonsays, Am I to assume that you were one of the ones who didn't follow the council to live with the end in view? Did you ignore the admonition not to attend college? Did you ignore the WT articles encouraging singleness and postponing having children until after Armageddon? Did your elderly parents donate your inheritance to the WTBT$?
If you didn't buy into the end coming soon, no matter what decade you pick, you are likely much better off than those who have "listened and obeyed".

@Truthseeker100, Actually I attended in Cali, USA. Oakland Colosseum or Candlestick Park in 1968 and 1969 went to Pasadena California for the international convention. But our joint recollections confirm the united message that came DIRECTLY from HQ. -

@SimonSays, How old are you? If you are less than 60 you are not old enough to have experienced the climate of the time between 1968 and 1975.
I AM old enough to remember vividly. If what you say is true, that it was overzealous individuals reading between the lines, who wrote the lines? Who fostered the attitude? Who appointed the elders, COs, DOs who whipped up the frenzy? Who commended (in writing) those who sold all their possessions to pioneer for the "remaining months"? Who selected the speakers and wrote the outlines and manuscripts for the assemblies and conventions where it was repeatedly stated that the millennium reign of Christ HAD to be included in the 7th day of Jah's rest "day" that they stated as fact is 7,000 years long?
They stated as fact that 6,000 years of mankind's existence ended in 1975, therefore the "Great Tribulation" would occur on or BEFORE 1975 to make the entire time period EXACTLY 7,000 years long.
Late in 1973 my contractor husband built a modest 2 bedroom house for us. The elders took him in the back room and disqualified him from being a MS solely on that basis. Although it took only 4 months to build "he was not living with a view to the END".

Eden, I am so sorry for the anguish you are experiencing. To have your wife out with you only to watch her fall prey to the cult mentality again is heartbreaking.
You have shown yourself to be a loving supportive husband through your wife's physical and mental illness. She needs to remember that time when she is giving you looks of disgust. Who else would have been there for her like you were?
I wish I had the answer for you. All I know is that everyone deserves to receive the love they give. Hugs

Millie, I just now read your kind words to me. Thank you. I look back on that and realize how inappropriate it was for me to attend that meeting and yet I did. Cult think and grief trump common sense. -

Why do we get TTATT and others don't?
by quest81 ini have thought about how ttatt came full circle for me.
how the connecting the dots was simple and just made sense,.
how silos of information are literally at our fingertips today.. why is it that the ones we love cannot get ttatt?.

Excellent answers. Something else I have noticed is that some don't want to see TTATT because staying in is for them a form of doing penance. Watchtower and most forms of Christianity teach that humans are born "sinful". Add to that the plethora of do's and don'ts in the Bible. Heck, even thinking could be a sin. (coveting neighbors wife etc.)
Since Jw's are not taught the doctrine of "grace" but instead, "works" there are those who think they must spend their life making up for their sins.
The question becomes how many meetings and hours of FS does it take to atone for each specific sin? The least they could do is provide a chart or something.

Sparrowdown, Yep they are crazy and I was one of them. My son's memorial was Saturday and I went to the JW memorial the NEXT DAY. There are many reasons for this but I guess that's another thread.

With the guilt trip of having illness as the main excused absence from the meetings, is it any wonder that JWs have a high percentage of people on antidepressants and hypochondriacs?
