JW's Funerals, Forget About The Person! Let's Preach.
by new boy ingod forbid you would talk about the dead person at his funeral.
so what do most people get after living 70-80 years?.
a 5-10 minutes eulogy.

This is a profoundly sore spot for me since I did not know TTATT in 2004 when my 21 yo son died. The day of his "memorial" service was the worst in my life. Someday I will start a thread and tell the whole ugly story but for now I'll simply agree that this day did nothing to remember my son or comfort my daughter or me. In fact, If I knew then what I know now I would do nothing rather than the despicable debacle that took place that dreadful day. -

Cedar Point 1922 convention attendees, are you still happy?
by Nambo in“happy is the one who keeps in expectation* and who arrives at the 1,335 days!.
we all know the climax of the book of daniel, the fulfillment of all god's prophetic promises to mankind found their fulfillment at the 1922 cedar point convention, nothing more ecstatic will ever befall mankind as this wonderful convention.. those of us born after 1922 are so jealous that we missed the only "happy" event that would befall gods people in the end times.
can you guys tell us about it before you await the resurrection as there is nothing "happy" promised for us to look forward too.. or has "new light" been shed on my favourite jw claim of scriptural fulfillment being realised in themselves?

My mother was four years old in 1922 hardly old enough to understand what was being said. She is now 97.
Who is still alive who attended and remembers it?

JW Expressions We Hate
by Socrateswannabe ini was browsing through stuff on jw.org recently and ran across some expressions that really grate on my nerves: loyal love, loving-care, and loving-kindness, as in: "please exercise loving-kindness toward your servant.
" who talks like that?
they must be relics of the fred franz era.

All this is proof positive that the "Most High" selected this group and "poured our his holy spirit" to enlighten and select them to be his "faithful and discrete slave" in 1919. -

Should doctors tell JW patients that there is disagreement about Watchtower's blood policy.
by Lee Elder inthis has been a controversial issue among doctors and medical ethicists.
i think it basically comes down to the fact that physicians have a responsibility to establish the presence of informed consent.
is it really possible for a person to give informed consent if they are not accurately informed?.

Ucantnome, I too, as a believing active JW had to make a decision about blood and made the identical decision as you for the exact same reasons.
As it turned out blood wasn't needed at all so things turned out fine. However, with my husband and my family and friends ALL being JWs it would have taken more courage to accept blood than to refuse it.

Several here have said that she is probably being marked for having a worldly *boyfriend* as opposed to *friend* such as yourself.
Here's the thing. The JW definition of *boyfriend* includes what anyone else would consider just friendship. For example, if just the 2 of them eat out at a restaurant- that's a *date*. If the two decide to go for a bike ride- it's a date. etc. etc. Simply spending any time alone, even if it is in public is considered *dating*.
The JW view of dating is so narrow that even telephone conversations and emails can and will be considered *dating*. The religion even strongly discourages platonic friendships such as yours. They quote 1 Cor. 15:33 as their reason. As long as your friend is an active member she will be held to these ridiculous standards.

I have had mine almost 2 years now and absolutely love it. Never have had a virus or any other trouble. 2 hours a month of free internet is built into it so when traveling you can be in the middle of nowhere and still use it. Same thing if your internet is down at home.
I am a complete novice when it comes to computers but this one is the most user friendly I can imagine.
Oh, and it's pretty too- bright aqua! :)
