Faye, glad you liked. Hopefully, I can meet you before too long. Seems like we would hit it off. :)
JRK aka Zed, Thanks, It was great to meet you too. BTW, I dig your avitar!
i haven't posted much lately because i got a new job at the end of nov. and it's taken much of my time and mental energy.
i still read though and care for you all very much so i thought i should let you know about the meet-up i had yesterday with mr and mrs flipper.. hubby got a call the day before from flipper saying he and his wife were going to visit his mother (who is in a rest home in my town) and would we like to meet up for coffee?
hubby couldn't make it but i was delighted to accept.. we picked a burger place not far from the rest home and where i knew jdubs don't usually hang out on saturdays.

somebody has posted an article that catholic church has covered up child abuse.. http://www.myfoxboston.com/news/national-content/catholic-bishops-not-obligated-to-report-clerical-sex-abuse-vatican-says/72976327.
this is what somebody had posted as reply:.
...."Elders could be held responsible for following The Borgs rules instead of the LAW!! ........I'm sure a lot of eldubs these days are feeling horribly ill at ease." - Beth Sarim
And they wonder WHY men are not rushing in droves to "reach out" for positions of oversight. Idiots!

cha ching, With more notice we might have had a chance to expand our meet-up. Next time the flippers come through it would be great to let the others we know in NorCal know and try to make it bigger.
This time had to be brief because after visiting mom they drove to another town about 100 mi away to have dinner with flipper Jr. The day was packed and kinda stressful dealing with old man flipper and the rather sad state his mother is in.
if you were really into the organization back in the 80's, you have to admit, that it was the peak of the organization.
it was a time of high energy and excitement.
like any nation, it reaches a peak and then it declines.
dropoffyourkee, and Pete, I agree that the best decade to be a dub is when you are young, idealistic, living on your own and/or having fun.
For Hubby and me it was def 1966-1980. After the purge at Bethell and ousting of R Franz there was a distinct change in the Borg and IMO NOT for the better. The WTBT$ cracked down on parties, study groups, and weddings. They made the service meeting sterile and took away the fun demos and forced the speakers not to be clever, inventive or use props anymore. From then on they must STICK to the OUTLINE or ELSE.
They did away with the "John Class" of DFed ones and forbade ANY association or greeting. Upper management was running scared of even more waking up after Ray's book came out so they eliminated even the POSSIBILITY of speculation or questioning within the borg. Uniformity was demanded and elders were on notice to strictly rule the pubs or face being removed. Sorry, you have to have enjoyed the excitement, closeness, and freedom of the late 60's and 70's to feel the noose tightening in the 80's and thereafter.

Kairos, agreed, July seems so far away!
LUHE, I'm glad you liked my post. True friends are rare and thus very valuable. Rest assured that when you are in trouble or need to vent, this is a good place to come. We are all unique yet we have had the shared experience of being in a harmful cult. This alone makes for a common bond which is a perfect place to start a true friendship. :)

Doc, No kidding! What gripes me is that Old man Flipper is 90 years old but could easily pass for late 70's. Why do the ass#$%$s live so long? I know, because they don't care about anyone else enough to worry. (which often causes illness and aging).
I agree about living a successful life. Hoping to do just that.

Beth Sarim, Yes, this job has been particularly frustrating because my supervisor is an admitted perfectionist with OCD. He he is constantly criticizing and micro-managing. UGHHHHHH!
You are right, Beth, the Flippers are as good as it gets.

OTWO, Thanks buddy! I told them that 3 hours just wasn't nearly enough time with them, that I want to have a pajama party where we stay up all night in our fuzzy slippers and swap stories and laugh. :) So glad you got to do that!
Yes I am glad to look in on mamma flipper.
ok so a car pulls up to the house and 3 eldurrs from my dads congo come up.
they come in and have thee nerve to ask me to step out so they can speak to pops!!!!
this is the good part.....pops says...and i quote " whatever needs to be said..can be said in front of my son".
I love your story and pictures mad puppy! We all need a son like you. I'm actually glad the eldubs were so transparent about their cash grab attempt with your pops since it appears it's helping him to distance himself some from the cult.
Unfortunately, I lost my entire large inheritance to the WBT$ so I am so glad to hear stories like yours a Heaven's. A word of warning, my mom gave huge amounts starting when she was only 50 and in excellent health mentally. She hid all her financial stuff from me sometimes actually lying. I respected her privacy and now I am sorry.
