it's been awhile since i've been talkative.

thought i'd give you an account of my latest family dysfunction.. a brief backstory is that i am an only child whose parents were born in jw's.

Simon, Thank you for your comment. I think it's the age- old question of nature or nurture regarding selfish mean people. IMHO Both play a part of who we become as adults. In any case, Watchtower attracts and accepts these people and teaches them that they are "A people for special possession" which tends to inflate their egos even more. Add to that, if they actually HAVE sacrificed a lot and given tons of money and time to WTBT$, like my parents did, over time, they get self-rightous. They look at children when young as being a hindrance to their "work" and when grown they look down on the child that they think doesn't sacrifice as much as they did.

Mexico branch......Now closing!!!

a circuit overseer friend of mine serving in latin america called me today to say hi.

i asked him what's new and he dropped the news that they have received notification that the branch in mexico will be closing!!

this branch also called the central american branch (although located in mexico) oversees all of mexico's 800,000+ publishers plus all 7 countries of central america of over 100,000 publishers.

Smiddy, thanks for your kind thoughts. As Pete Zahut mentioned, not all JW families are as unloving as mine. THANKFULLY! However, Watchtower fosters a climate where these people are accepted and even promoted.

Luo, Thanks for the clarification. So sorry for the loss of your daughter and unborn grandson -devastating would be an understatement! My firstborn and only son died at age 21 so I can truly empathize. Glad you are better now.

Pete Z, Bro, what an insightful post! Your MIL is sweet and kind even with dementia because that is her nature. Glad for you and her. Indeed, I spent my life trying to please mom and everyone else in my life including the ultimate Narsissist......Jehovah!

Lou, I gotta tell you that when it was happening it was anything but funny. I loved her with my whole heart and dementia or not, her anger was directed at me and I didn't deserve it. My friend who works in health care was with me at the time. She advised me never to go back for the sake of my mental health. I took her advice. Now I'm trying to do the work to heal.

hi, is there a scripture saying it's okay to beat your wife with a stick no thicker than a mans thumb or is this a myth?

The book of Proverbs says it's ok to beat your child with a rod. Wives...not so much..... but the Watchtower has written numerous accounts of wives who were beaten, locked out of their own house in their underwear in the cold, and were praised for staying with the SOB. In one article a woman named Selma (beaten for 17 years by her husband) was told to ask herself what SHE could do to be a BETTER wife, implying maybe she was asking for it. Not ONCE was anyone in these articles told to call the authorities or find a safe house etc.

Usual, I don't know if there even WAS a memorial for mom. I never called my aunt back. Why would I put myself through that?

Still ADD,I too have spent 34 years trying to be the mom I always wanted. The Irony is that my only child says she doesn't respect someone who doesn't have more respect for herself. She is angry that I have often been a doormat. She's getting counseling and I'm working on self-help so hopefully, our relationship will improve. :)

LITS, True, but I also think it attracts and retains the meanies who wouldn't be tolerated in any other setting. Who else but an assh*** wishes and hopes for the violent destruction of nearly the whole human race?!
