When JW.org drops 607BCE...
by Nathan Natas inprobably everyone else thought of this long ago, but i, being an "independent thunker" thunk of it just a coupla weeks ago.. we all know that since the year zero (on the fredfranzian calendar) the wtb&ts has defied archaeology and insisted that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, even though the physical evidence shows that 587 bce is a more likely date.
in fact, the book "the gentile times reconsidered: have jehovah's witnesses been wrong all along about 607 bce?
" by carl olof jonsson and rud persson made this conversation public.. it is a difference of 20 years.

Watchtower already has shown how they deal with their uncomfortable predictions and Dates.
#1 IGNORE the date and the significance they attached to it.
IOW STOP mentioning the date. Just Stop. Stop referring. Stop explaining. Stop printing. Think about how WTS dumped the 7,000 Creative Days Doctrine.
If that doesn't work:
#2 DENY DENY DENY Think 1975. "We NEVER SAID Armageddon was going to begin on that date. Some of the brothers 'Ran Ahead' of the Organization."
If that doesn't work:
#3 DEAMONIZE or DISCREDIT Anyone or Anything that can prove the Date or Prediction they made is False

How many different "rules" do Jehovah's Witnesses have to obey? Can you count them?
by Balaamsass2 inall the big changes for jws since this last fall brought me back to this site, and got me and the wife talking.
just how many things were we not allowed to do growing up as jehovah's witnesses?
we were so used to all the rules, customs, and traditions, that we became used to them.. one site i found claims there are 141 unique rules!!

Oh yeah, another one is:
Whoever initiates a gathering of JWs is considered the Host and is therefore responsible (on the hook) for whatever rules are broken during said gathering.

A friend's daughter got counseled for wearing a denim skirt to the meeting. Mind you, it wasn't tight or short. Just that Devilish Denim!
I was in a congregation where a parent was required to accompany their child to the restroom no exceptions! They devoted a "Special Needs" talk on the new rule and why. It seems some elder went to the restroom and found a big #2 in the toilet. Big Deal
One old brother with a thick foreign accent said "I was in there too (the restroom) and It didn't smell like no kid to me." Too funny!

SCHEMING TO END YOUR MARRIAGE NOW AS BAD AS APOSTASY
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/-yvykw37rzo?si=vwokohrdq2b53fmh.
by now, it should be painfully obvious that we live in a post tonny morris era where the floods of organizational changes have become possible and a new version of the religion, some have called it warchtower 2.0 is emerging with a soft approach to disfellowshipping practices across the board for all those sinners.
nevertheless 3 groups of people will still be targeted for harsh excommunication, we know the first two well :csa perpetrators and apostates.

DOC,
I couldn't agree more with everything you said. We don't know to what extent these revisions will be followed or what supplemental instructions will be given.
In the 60 years I was a JW I was in 12 different congregations. My Father was the "Congregation Servant" (head guy before Elders) and both husbands were Elders.
Like you, I saw the variables of the administration firsthand. For example: The loudest, pushiest, or Richest ie(Donates the most) Elders have the most influence over the rest. His pet peeves, or his wifes', His favorite and least favorite people get treated differently. Fellow Elder's kids have a leg up because their father becomes their advocate. (Free WT legal advice) :) They often skate when the "Fatherless boy" gets DFed.
Every Elder interprets and administers "Society" instructions differently. The same person committing the same "offense" could have completely different outcomes depending on the 3 Elders who do the Judging.

Thanks LHG,
Both of us have had so many difficulties caused by obedience to JW dogma that it's hard not to be bitter. Unfortunately, BA's health is not good so even though we are so happy to be out of the cult, life is far from perfect.
The old joke holds true: "If I would have known I would live so long I would have taken better care of myself!"

GERMAN EXJW YOUTUBE CHANNEL WINS IN COURT
by raymond frantz inthis following story is about the german exjw channel jz help that received a cease and desist letter from the watchtower : "we embarked on a journey to shed light on human rights violations within the jehovah's witnesses community.
it all began when our youtube channel, initially named jw victim assistance, was abruptly suspended in august 2019 by the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, claiming a breach of human rights.
subsequently, in october, we received a cease and desist notice, demanding the cessation of using the abbreviation 'jw' within a short timeframe.

Raymond ' Thank you for posting that.

Wow, Baihi!
What a story!
Good for you for having enough sense not to get involved in their mess and leaving Watchtower as well.

I realize I left this thread on a negative note. Yup, I am angry, sometimes depressed, and unlike LongHairGal, I was a child bride at 17. I listened and obeyed the GB not to finish my education, not to have sex before marriage, and the biggest NO NO, not to work when you have a husband who earns enough to get by.
Baalam'sAss listened and obeyed the edict and family pressure against Higher Education even though he was offered scholarships to some Ivy League Colleges. Instead, he pioneered, served at Bethel, and married a Pioneer sister who knew she could not have children. He dearly wanted to be a father and would have been an extraordinary one. But hey, "New Order" is coming any time now so marry the hot chick. LOL
We both went through nasty divorces in separate cities and met in our mid to late 40s at a KH where we had both coincidently moved. We were assigned to the same book study where he was the conductor. As we became acquainted, we saw each other's good qualities that had been grossly overlooked by not only our former spouses but our entire JW families!
We got married and had a whirlwind of trouble from my teenage kids, our exes, the congregation, his job, and even our mothers and other family members.
The bright side is this. At a certain point, we got our carts loaded with the hypocrisy and meanness associated with JW's.
We found the courage to examine OUR religion and now we have been completely out for 12 years.
It is never too late to wake up if you are ready. We are SO HAPPY we did.

Thanks, Biahi and LongHairGal,
When I think back to those 60 years I spent steeped in that toxic environment I am not surprised that I had to see a therapist and still on anti-anxiety/depression meds.
