You might be a female ex JW:
if you no longer own a dowdy dress and nylons.
If you no longer decide to buy a purse because it would make a great bookbag.
If you don't own a wooden spoon.
if the only song you know by jimi hendrix is.................(fill in the blank).
if you are under the illusion hank marvin can actually play the guitar.. if you think the shadows and prince would make a great super group.. if the time 'half past eight' frightens you because it sounds like apostate!.
if you look around for a spy before wishing a happy birthday.. if you have never seen 'the exorcist' or harry potter movies.. if every time you see 6.07 on a digital clock you think of 5.39.. if you find yourself thinking, 'i must look that up.'.

i'm curious, even though jws must fight and resist, how many secretly hope that their loved one is forced a blood transfusion so they can live and their conscious is cleared of having done everything possible to not have one?
or you have felt guilty and upset about it no matter what?
I would not have wanted blood forced on any adult including family because i was a true believer. I refused fractions, the whole bit. However, I was glad that the state took withholding blood out of parents hands. I could never handle it when children died over the blood issue.
Now that I know TTATT, If my child had died because I refused a blood transfusion I would not be able to forgive myself or the WTBT$.
even if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
your thoughts please..
That's a good question. I haven't reported "time" since 2009, haven't been to a meeting of any kind since 2011, not DFed or DAed. Hubby's stats are similar except he stopped meetings a year before I did.
Neither of us identify ourselves as JWs in any way shape or form yet our fade has been successful enough that when we run into dubs around town we are usually treated like we have moved and we are not close anymore. (which is true) We all say "Hi" exchange pleasantries, and move on.
One elder invited us to the memorial this year and hubby responded by telling him "Thanks, but we are no longer in your territory." That's the last we have heard from him.
Family started shunning us while we were still active 'cause we asked them to pay back the money they borrowed from my 90+ yo mother. So the answer to the op is: It depends on who you ask. LOL
would you do a ray franz deal and write a book or keep quiet and live out the rest of your life in bethel?.
would you keep reading the watchtower magazine?.

I was 60 and hubby (slightly younger) when we learned TTATT. We are third gen with no family who have left except my daughter. We got caught in the financial crash at the same time as loosing our religion. It was NOT easy but we have started our entire lives over. We are SO GLAD to be out from under the weight of the WTBT$ !
I know 80 is much different than 60 but I guess my point is: when people are ready they will leave. If not, they won't.
If the 80 yo doesn't find TTATT on their own it would not be kind to tell it to them.
the jw org.
used to claim (and probably still does) that masturbation would turn you into a homosexual.
they, of course, failed to explain the process by which that happened and since masturbation is likely a near universal practice, the claim fails the test of logic, as homosexuality is not the majority form of sexuality.. but over in the islamic world, an equally illogical claim is made.. mucahid cihad han, a turkish televangelist .

Doubting Bro
Judge Judy says, "If something doesn't make sense it isn't true. (or you don't have all the facts) If we ask ourselves WHO would originate policies that not only protect pedophiles but actually PROMOTE them to positions of authority. We have the answer. The same person/s who made the policy that a JW wife was not scripturally free if her husband committed a homosexual act with someone else. The one/s who liked to have nude Bible discussions with younger men in the sauna at Bethel. The one/s who were accused of using their authority and trust to engage in sexual acts with children and teens.
Look closely at the ones who formed the beliefs doctrines and policies of the group. Look at their attitude about women and children.
At this point in time the GB.2 MAY be different in nature than the founders but they are too PROUD to change and admit the foundation they sit on (sexually speaking) was not as it appeared on the outside.
i faded completely (no kh visits or field service).. just recently a close friend from the kh wrote:.
"dear daniel.
it's a pity that we don't see you anymore at the kingdom hall.
Dear close friend.
It is kind of you to let me know that I am in your thoughts. You have always shown yourself to be a true and loving friend. I realize you are sad because I am no longer at the Kingdom Hall and worry about my salvation.
I want to ease your mind, if I can, by saying that I am happy and confident about my future so not to worry. As far as I'm concerned we will always be friends.
Fondly, Daniel
If you want you can invite her to lunch as well. Through the ball in her court if you want but stay off the topic of religion- period!
can anyone recommend which steve hassan book to read, i see there are 3.. my mind is all over the place during this process of finally acknowledging and researching my doubts, ive been recommended his books on here, but which one is best?.
I have read the 1st and 3rd. I too, prefer the first. Reading this book helps you to forgive yourself and others for being duped into the cult. It also helps you over feeling like an idiot.
S Hassen is no dope. Reading about the circumstances surrounding his conversion to Moonies is a real eye-opener.
