Dagney, my hubby has been talking to a JW friend of his who for years has been complaining about the WTBTS and GB yet refuses to leave or take any decisive action........until the ARC hearings. For reasons only he knows, seeing the whole thing and watching GJ testify was FINALLY the tipping point for him. He may be joining us soon. -

Introducing Myself
by Peony ini've finally got round to joining the site (after over 2 years lurking!
i was born into jws, pioneered for 10 years (met my husband at pioneer school).
had health issues that saw me catapulted away from 'the centre of the cong' and wow what a different place that was!

Welcome Peony, You have a great story. Mine has many things in common with yours including hubby being disgusted with the mishandling of an infamous child abuse case and resigning as an elder.
I too, suffered depression, and anxiety attacks, still do, but have dramatically improved since learning TTATT.
I am very grateful to have left with my husband too. Let's compare Christmas decorations! LOL

Exposing one's identity. When?
by kairos ini've been toying with the idea of just coming out and posting my name and location as an attempt to be available to locals that secretly browse the forum that have known me for up to 25 years.
( "reaching out", so to speak ).
i'm not da'd or df'd, so this most certainly could end in a dramatic confrontation.

Glad you're calm, Kairos. Cha Ching has good advice. -

Oh I forgot, My question to Lett is: Why, after writing 3 heartfelt letters (including scriptures) that were sent to the desk and hand delivered to at least one GB member, did we never receive a written answer?
The letters contained copies of a conditional loan my elderly, widowed, faithful JW mother with dementia had given to them. I, acting with her power of attorney, was asking for repayment of the loan to help pay for her care. Watchtower not only refused to repay the loan they refused to even say why. After a solid year of letter writing my husband got a verbal response which was "Put her on welfare". Why did they refuse to put their answer in writing? (as if I didn't know)
I would still like to hear what he would say. Let Lett know they helped me to see the TTATT. Now I am greatful.

Sparrowdown, I'm intrigued too. I am a couple of hrs North of Sac so I would love to be a fly on the wall. Does Letts visit have anything to do with the translation office there? -

JW to SDA anyone do it ?
by Introvert 2 ina couple friends pointed me to some info on the sabbath and i just plain like it, being the workaholic i am it's a lifesaver for me and gives me the motivation to be more balanced about my business and work schedule.
so from there i looked into the adventists and found a hall near my place and went last week.
i honestly enjoyed myself and the meeting time is not disruptive and the people were great and pretty laid back.

This is funny! BAR article asks: "Was Eve Made from Adam’s Rib—or His Baculum?" But what is a Baculum?
by fulltimestudent inwe all know the bible story (as its translated into english) that eve was made from adam's rib.
now bible scholar, ziony zevit, distinguished professor of biblical literature and northwest semitic languages at american jewish university in bel-air, california has written in the 'biblical archeological review' that the hebrew word that is traditionally translated as rib which is 'istsela has been wrongly translated.. zevit says, "it was first translated as rib in the septuagint, a greek translation of the hebrew bible from the mid-third century b.c.e.
however, a more careful reading of the hebrew word for rib in the adam and eve story suggests that eve was created from another, very different, part of adams anatomyhis os baculum (penis bone).".

Remember the two elderly sisters?
by John Aquila inabout a month ago i posted what had happened to two elderly sisters who were reprimanded by a couple of elders for crying because the jw broadcasting was going to be stopped at the kingdom hall and it was up to each publisher to learn how to use the internet.
if you recall the sisters got together with my mom and talked about it and it resulted in all of them declining to make meals for the pioneers.
here is the link.

I believe that the greater percentage of JWs-You Will Not Be Able to Help, no Matter What Facts You Show Them.
by John Aquila inso i ran into this brother whom ive known for a while and the conversation led into me being invited to come back to the kingdom hall.
we talked for about an hour during which time i explained to him 607 being the wrong date and a lot of other stuff including the child abuse cases in australia.
but what i wanted to relate was the last few minutes of our conversation.
