What TV shows were forbidden in your JW household?

in the u.s., three's company was not allowed.

it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.

the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

My ex FIL (deceased) who was an elder frequently said, "If any of us leave ( the borg) it will be like your hand is in a bucket of water. Remove your hand and see how fast it fills in." This is how we are viewed by the "friends".

i haven't posted much lately because i got a new job at the end of nov. and it's taken much of my time and mental energy.

i still read though and care for you all very much so i thought i should let you know about the meet-up i had yesterday with mr and mrs flipper.. hubby got a call the day before from flipper saying he and his wife were going to visit his mother (who is in a rest home in my town) and would we like to meet up for coffee?

hubby couldn't make it but i was delighted to accept.. we picked a burger place not far from the rest home and where i knew jdubs don't usually hang out on saturdays.

Dagney, Not positive we can make Tahoe this year either but keeping fingers crossed. I would LOVE to have champagne with you and cha ching. Heck, I'd settle for a few beers!

Flipper, Balaamsass and I are so very glad and grateful we have developed our friendship. Hugs back acha!

Mrs Flipper, You are such a special lady. I can't think of anyone else who could show the love and understanding you do for exdubs and how we used to think. It would be awesome if you and Mr Flip could spend the night next time and include others who want to get together.

I'm glad Old man Flipper left early and you could have a nice visit with mamma without a wet blanket.

Kairos, April is usually beautiful in our neck of the woods (unless it's raining). I love your idea of a pre Tahoe Apost-a-palooza! With some planning we can make it happen!

Hi Millie, as I get older my own mortality is staring me in the face. I can't imagine how sad and lonely it would be in a rest home run by the State. I feel happier visiting mamma flipper than I ever did preaching as a Jdub.
