by pennycandy in.

Dansk, I am sorry to get to this thread so late, kinda been out of the loop for a while. I am truely sorry for the cancer that has stricken you. I am also glad to see the upbeat attitude you have displayed. Getting your body healthy, and in a positive mode, is very important. Whithout the fight your body can put up mentally and physically, any treatment is a waste.
I was sad to see though, that you turned down chemo treatment. I do know alot about this. I agree with the point you made about people being different, everyone responds to treatment differently. There are things that you can and are doing to help with chemo. I'll give you a personal example:
When I was 18, my mother died from brain cancer. It was very hard on her, and on us. When the doctor told her about chemo, she was visibly shaken. She knew she didn't have long with the type of cancer she had(about a year) with chemo treatment. She would only have a couple of months without the chemo treatment. The doctor did explain one critical point in chemo treatment. The body must be in the best shape possible. There are alot of patients who take chemo treatment and do nothing for there bodies in preperation for it. A great many fail because they do not prepair themselves. My mothers doctor, wanted her to prepair. She did as the doctor asked, she ate right, exercised, put herself in a positive mode of thinking. True, she was drained by the chemo, but if she hadn't prepaired herself, she would have faired much worse. The recovery time she had was cut in half(according to statistics). After 7 months, the cancer became more aggressive. The doctors told her they could do chemo again, but her quality of life would be less than if she didn't. She got a year and a half from chemo. It's true, she did die, but the spread was inevitable. Those last few months I had with her, I will cherish forever. I almost cry at the thought of not having those precious few months with her if she hadn't taken chemo. She had only one thought during her struggle with cancer, she wanted as much time as she could with us, and she was going to fight as much as she could.
I do know the doctors may seem to be pushy. All they want is to extend your life for the ones you love. Yes there are exceptions in cancer remission/cure, but when you look at the odds without chemo, you might as well play the lottery.
Many may think I am being harsh and unfeeling, quite the contrary. I do know the feeling cancer gives to a family. Sometimes, the only feeling the family has, is desperation. You have a lovely wife, two daughters who may yet see things for what the org is. When that time comes for them, I'm sure you would want to be around. I'm also sure, your family would like know that you did everything you could to be and stay with them.
There are a great many things I still regret with my mothers death. Some of them could have been lessened, if someone would have given some loving advice.
I truely wish you would reconsider the chemo treatment.

Why do men "play" dumb?
by Netty inso i am here this morning with my octopus arms, making the kids breakfast with one hand, getting them dressed with the other, doing their hair with another hand brushing their teeth with another hand, etc.

So I am here this morning with my octopus arms, making the kids breakfast with one hand, getting them dressed with the other, doing their hair with another hand brushing their teeth with another hand, etc. you get the picture... while my husband sits at the table reading the newspaper. Both kids are complaining of sore throat and have some sort of summer cold, so I asked hime could you please get the medicine and give them some medicine, and what does he do? Nothing. So I ask again, and then he complains "Where is it, I dont know where it is (the medicine he means) so I said "ITS OUTSIDE IN THE MAILBOX WHERE IT GOES!" He is not really that dumb! He's not I know hes not. Then when he managed (I'm just so proud of him) to get it out of the fridge, (where it goes) I asked him to give it to the kids and he didnt know how much to give, so I said "TURN IT AROUND AND READ THE LABEL, LIKE WE'VE BEEN DOING NOW FOR SEVEN YEARS SINCE WE HAD OUR FIRST CHILD!" not that dumb, I know he's not.
K, I feel waaaay better now.
Netty
Honestly, swear to god!! I NEVER would have thought medicine would be kept in the fridge! I don't have kids either, well, none that I know of at least! It never was kept in a fridge when I was a kid.

Attn: Formidable Apostates
by Bubbamar ini read the thread yesterday about apostates and started wondering about your families.
i am thinking about writing a letter to my mom and sharing with her some of the things i have learned about the jw's but also realize that this will make me an apostate and will worsen an already distant and painful relationship.
i am hoping that some of you will share your experiences on what impact your outspoken "apostacy" has had on your families - how have they reacted to you.

What family?
It's easier for the dub's to follow blindly, then to follow thier hearts.....Blood is not thicker than water! If you are basing your presentation to her about what truths the org has, on her following her heart and love for you, then you WILL be disappointed.
Sorry, dubs suck!

Pit Bull dogs
by Schizm ini want to start a discussion about pit bull dogs.
i live next door to a new neighbor who owns an american pit bull dog (also a female of the same breed that's just given birth to three pups).
when i'm in the owner's presence the dog allows me to pet him, but when the owner isn't present the dog acts extremely fierce to the point that i'm scared of him.

There have been plenty of studies done about what breed attacks the most. So, it's not surprising that pit owners will not be able to get home owners insurance if they know that the home owner owns a pit, pits are on the "black list".
Children should never be left alone with a dog, at eye level, or near a food dish. As said before, dogs are pack animals, anything they see as smaller or inferior and they will play the dominant role.
People also need to be more respectful of other people with dogs. Going up to a strange dog who looks friendly while the owner is near is a mistake. The dog doesn't know you, and will look at you as a threat against his master.
I have had my own run in with idiotic, disrespectful people in my nieghborhood. I keep my dogs on a leash. (including one German Sheperd Avi). I have a lead that my sheperd runs on, it goes from one side of the yard to the other. I have seen adults and even children actually try to beat my sheperd across this line to cross my yard. Now I am fast, and there is no way I can beat him, let alone children. So because of these idiots, the nieghbors feel I have a mean dog, even though these people are trespassing and the yard is clearly marked as such.
I am in no way saying it's all other peoples fault. But, it's takes respect on both sides to get this under control. And yes, there are bad owners( I have seen a few) and there are also bad people ( like the kids I caught throwing rocks at my dogs while on thier leashes). Dogs have memories as well, when they are mistreated, they remember, and they remember the type of person who mistreated them.
We all need to becareful, and remember, no matter what training, they are still just animals.

SIN
Well, when I had my aura taken, that was the general concensous among everyone. The women are generally more gifted. I think it has to do with emotions and being able to let them out. Most men can't or won't show thier true emotions, they feel vunerable. If you look at the physchic community, most are women.
BTW, I am an ARIES.
Yeah, I figure, why fight it, it's a gift use it. I also found as child that what I thought as normal just wasn't...for most people. For instance, I have a photographic memory. As a child I thought it was normal....guess not.
