In our local paper (Maui News) on Dec.11 there appeared an article entitle "We need a new Pledge". It dealt with the need for childrens protection from pedophiles. It screamed for an answer noting the Victorian law reagrding 'Working With Children' as an example of what has been done elsewhere in the world towards this end. If you care to read it, go to www.mauinews.com then click on opinions shown just under the newspapers name. Then click on Editorials and scroll back to Dec. 11...Please note that anyone can submit a letter to the editor mentioning anything related to the subject that may be of interest to the community here on the island. Of course, if an editorial has alredy been written, then it's a given that at least some of the community is interested in this subject. If that letter happened to contain a sentence or two regarding JW's refusal to submit despite the efforts of local authorities prompting and offering help to do this, it may be entirely appropos. Perhaps mention of a link to www.stevenunthank.com and his "religious manifesto" for more background info on the law and the JW's obstenance to submitting. I t would be polite to conclude with praise for Victoria Australia for their bold steps in all areas of the situation. I want to do this myself, but must not have my name shown in the paper as it would wreak to havoc in my home life and more than likely an attempt to DF me....seperating me from my daughter and g'kids.....couldn't bear that. If you have comments or want more info, please feel free to PM me. I will check for messages as I'm able; usually when my wife is away on Tues. and Sunday at her meetings and I have some quiet, private time. Be patient for a response.

watchtower feeding time
by ssn587 inhad a thought, yeah i know they come every now and then, of how it is that the wt really feeds the sheep, they are all captive in a pen and the gb is shoveling manure to feed them and they are eating it up only to get indigestion, and yet they want more of it, seems to me that after eating a lifetime of bs from the gb one would wtfu.
but no for some it will never happen as they have become acclimated to eating the bs that is feed them.
for those that have waken up and jumped the fence so to speak, they find that the grass is truly greener on the other side of the fence, and we have hope that those sitting atop the fence will see that..

Do what you must, but in my experience if your conscience is well-trained by high morals; you should listen to it.

The Control is simply amazing
by outsmartthesystem inat the kind advice of so many of you (and hassan) on this board....i ceased attempting to discuss doctrine/failures with my wife many months ago.
but unfortunately that does not prevent her from grilling me from time to time.
during one of our infamous "discussions" she said she was going to "investigate" this supposed "proof" that is out there regarding 587bc.

If you want some insights into obedience to authority go to youtube and enter "Milgras Obedience to Autority experiment" and watch part 1,2 and 3. About 25 minutes total, but well worth your time. Then think about how the organization uses similar mental, social and emotional (instead of physical) Tactics to obtain the same --or even more drastic-- results.

A thought for those with believing partners.....
by snare&racket inwhen i was a single male jw i knew between age 22-25 that i had major concerns with the religion.
this had a big effect on my interaction with opp sex in the org.
whenever i got close to someone i would consider the inevitable time that i would have to face my concerns.

Hello S&R, Kudos to you for having the foresight and common sense to not entangle yourself with someone knowing that you'd not be able to keep up the promises (or facade of faith) forever. I fell for someone hard at 17....I know most folks would roll their eyes and think "too young to know what real love is". But I made the commitment and showed her 'the truth'.....even tho I knew it wasn't all 'truth' to me. She was a Catholic and converted to become a JW. Next year will make 45 that we've been together. We have survived just about everything a marriage can be challenged with (shy of the death or serious illness of a child). But when I quit the JWs four years ago, I started the most challenging marital rift we've encountered. Somehow we are still together. Of late tho, I have been wondering how the "borg" manages to maintain such control over people such as me (for 50 years) and my wife, Dad and 1 of my children. So, I've been researching control, submission, and obedience to authority. I strongly encourage all who have wondered about this to youtube "Milgras Obedience to Authority Experiment"--parts 1,2,3.....It lays the basis for understanding human nature and the inordinate willingness most of us have to submit to authority. It took me 50 years to break the chains.....35 of them in intermitant depression ranging from clinical to suicidal. Now I anxiously await the Victoria/Unthank situation to break open. I'm hoping it will hit the media, and provide a chance for a crack in the wall for my wife (and many good friends) to see the truth about 'the truth'. And yes, there is pain in seeing your mate not accept the reality. For those of us chest deep in that pain, there is also hope that perhaps this faith shattering Australian situation may be the first step to reality for all truly sincere ones.

POF....The Maui News requires your name, address, ph# and email before they will publish it....being from an outer island is no big deal, lots of folks write in. They will not print it without your first and last name being used.....therein the problem for me. If you are still willing it would be great. I can email you the letter I have prepared and if you are comfortable with it, then I'll tell you how to submit it to the Maui News. Thanks. Don't get anxious over a reply from me, my moments here are limited because my wife is a die-hard dub, and too often looking over my shoulder. Again Thanks...I'll check my PM's and this post again tomorrow (Friday 12/16) if possible. Hang in with me. Many Alohas.

Victoria, Australia: If you want information about Steven Unthank's December 6th court hearing...
by AndersonsInfo inplease call richard rawe's "dialogue" program (a special conference call program), monday, december 5th at 8 p.m. est in the us, or 7 p.m. cst, etc.. the phone number is 712-432-8710, pin #9925. .
richard told me that if steven unthank is no longer prosecutor, being that the "crown" took over the filed criminal cases against five watch tower entities, he, steven, might be on the phone discussing the latest hearing and the indictments.
if steven does not call in, someone else will report on what took place in court which in australia will be on tuesday, dec. 6th.. hopefully, this special conference program will take place without any snafu.. barbara.

Is anyone going to post a transcript, or perhaps a synopsis of the days proceedings?
