i constantly read that having faith is the answer to knowing that god (or in most cases, jesus) exists.

but to me it's quite clear there are serious difficulties in believing the bible.. adam and eve.

My wider point really is since the is so much bloodshed, hatred and behaviour by so called faithful humans that we would view as vile, is it worth even looking through so called nicer parts considering how violent god and his people seem to be?

Watchtower free - agreed, it does make it difficult to see any good when this is the norm.

It's difficult looking for good points while wading through the murder and forced rape. I'm pretty sure if someone goes out and murders someone on the same day they helped a wee old lady to cross the road, it probably wouldn't be much of a defence in court. Just saying.

Isn't there even a case in the bible where gods people are commanded to go and hide in the vineyards and wait on the woman coming out from a festival and they were to kidnap them and take as wives? It even said they were instructed in what to say if the woman's fathers or brothers asked (asked? Hello..) them what they were doing.

hard to ignore? I'm curious what you think of that, *lost*?

Lost - Genesis 19:30-36. Genesis 19:8 is interesting as well. This is pretty straight forward to me.

Can you just ignore these and many other serious problems with the bible?

Proof of Noah's Flood - Presently watching a Documentary about Europe & the Ice Age

first time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.

showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.

and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .

The flood story makes absolutely no common sense. If there is a god and he wants us to believe and worship him, why tell wee stories that make no sense to the brain he apparently created?
