Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

Tec, you sound like an honest and good person, be honest here, don't you think for whatever the reason, god asking Abraham to kill his son was immoral? Just a yes or no.

Cofty's post quoting Hebrews 11 shows quite clearly that he was going to kill his son on the orders of God, I can't see any other way around that.

Hi Tec
id say most folk here are aware of the bible story of Abraham and what the outcome was in the story, I don't think that was the question. Going by what you said there would indicate to me that Abraham went about what he was doing in the FULL knowledge that god would step in and stop him, as if playing along with gods game as it were? Until god decided to show tell him that he wasn't to murder his son. I can't say I've ever had that impression when I read that story.

Can this logic be refuted?
by notsurewheretogo ini was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.
i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!
i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.

Also you must know as a former elder, if someone questions any doctrine the first step is for the elders to go and attempt to 'readjust their thinking' , if that doesn't work it's a JC for apostasy.

Not sure, you can be rest assured that this is excellent advice. The reason everyone is saying this is through experience. People who have been best mates with elders on the same body have been cast aside for talking about the things you mention.
if you want to fade don't do it, if you want to leave in a blaze of glory then give it a go. And I'm sure it's 1980 on the organ transplants. It tells you in COC.

FINALLY! Can you prove God exists? If you can I won't ask again!
by punkofnice ini have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.
he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.
finally he yelled at me: 'do you want god to write your name in the sky?

Punk - I'm exactly the same, I'd love there to be more, for there to be a god ( even though my first question would be was it worth all the suffering of mankind to more or less settle an argument?)
when it's said like that its a little depressing, very sad but until I see some actual evidence then I'd need to agree with you.

I wouldn't if I were you, speaking to them about this will only lead to you being DF'd. I'm not 100% but I think they changed the organ donor doctrine in 1980.

Deuteronomy 18: 20-22 and the FDS's failed prophesies.
by braincleaned inwhen jw's come to my door, i don't tell them i am an ex, just because they will move on and you will not have helped them see the obvious.. so i show them this scripture, and the new wt of july 2013 makes it even easier to confirm that new light is just moving the goalposts.. if jehovah really exists, they are in for some heavy crapstorm from him!.
deuteronomy 18: 20-22:.
20however, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that i have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.. 21and in case you should say in your heart: how shall we know the word that jehovah has not spoken?.
