Should I stay or should I go?
by olongapo joe inhello all, i love reading all of your experiences, and trials and tribulations ( isn't that very jw'ish)?
while most of my life experiences have almost nothing to do with jw's, as i was never baptized and never believed( in the bible) past the 5th grade, it makes me feel good to contribute a post or two here, i tend to go off on subjects that are probably not very jermaine to the main subject of this site.
i do really enjoy all of your comments and the time and effort simon and the other moderators spend to make this a truly inspiring site.

(What? Why would I question everything?)
You see? Now you're getting it!
Don't take anything for face value. NOTHING.
Test, question, research, and investigate every single premise you hold to be true.
IS THERE AN ABSOLUTE in your life?
Be assured it is your demon!
The one thing you will never question is the thing that is destroying you from inside.Well put. This was my strategy as well, had to start from nothing. Every preconceived idea that was taught to me as a child, that I believe to be true had to be reexamined.

So , how "worldly" did you get?
by greenhornet ini even hate to use that word worldly tm.. any way i'm probably the worst.. 1 when the jw s come to my door i say i'm not interested .
2 i have gone to many churches and volunteered.. 3 i shredded all my jw books and magazines out in the woods.. 4 had the mormon elders over and studied with them.. 5 tried pot (its legal here).
6 open carry my fire arm every where (legal here also).

Rebel has a nice list.
I support the military
I believe in education very important.
I decide what I believe and live my life to my standards ( you don't have to be religious, to be a good person)
I support my wife's Yoga Classes, actually I might go next time with her.
I will give blood and accept blood, no problem. ( got rid of the blood card along time ago)
I have served on a jury duty.
I toast (always did)
I gamble ( had a blast in Vegas last time we went)
I speak to DF people just not at the KH
I curse, not as much as I would like to (working on this)
Watch and listen to what ever kind of movie or music, I dig.
I don't view it as worldly, just normal. I'm definitely a different person I was 3 years ago.

Do you still believe in God?
by FormerlySandL ini never thought i would admit it, but i don't.
i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.
as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

I was addressing only the issue of why God does not prevent evil, not on proof of God's existance.
The argument has no merit, if you can't convince me there is a God.

Hello FSNL
Well, nice to see you took the bull by the horns. The God discussion is the big one, most avoid it because it goes nowhere the believer will continue to believe regardless of the evidence. I will say, on a scale 1-10, I was around a 7 non believer and after Acts 5v29 fine explanation I'm now closer to 9.5
The problem imho is Acts is preaching to xjw's, we heard it all before, we read it, preached it, sang it, went to conventions it was drilled in us. The arguments for God, Acts bring to the table is not new, same old stuff. I think I could of done a better job resurrecting some of my old rhetoric. Its a hard thing to sell especially here where we have been duped, where a religion (JW's) used the idea of a Omnipotent God to subjugate it's members and destroy lives, to the point where we are still in the process of picking up the pieces, in a extreme ostracized environment.
Most of us have research and have deeply thought about this, have truly spent years wresting with this subject, the belief in God. "I've concluded that Evidence makes belief unnecessary"
So new evidence will definitely require me to reanalyze my position. But until then I enjoy everyday of life without all the delusional religious constraints.
I hope your situation has improved some.

A fresh start
by FormerlySandL inafter the worst introduction i could ever make on the forum i would like to reintroduce myself and make a fresh start on the forum and hopefully over time i will be able to redeem myself.
i have changed my user name which was over dramatic and ridiculous in the cold light of day but for transparency and to show i am not trying to hide anything i have adapted the original name and it now has a more positive feel.
after reading a lot of posts on this forum i am feeling more optimistic about my future.

HI FSNL
Glad to see you stayed, shows your character.
Their is a wealth of advice on this board enter whatever topic your interested in, into the search bar, you could literally spend days reading.
I will say this if I would of posted anything when I was first learning the ttatt I would of said some very disturbing things. I was depressed, angry, shocked and confused. I wasn't making a lot of sense, a lot of things went into my head suicide, revenge on the men/ org. that lied to me and some other thing I wont mention. My identity was stripped from me, I felt alone, I was emotionally drained. Oh did I mention pissed.
Fast forward 3 yrs later and I'm a different person my revenge isn't as sinister, but helping those who come here with concerns and question. Paying it forward you can say.
It will take some time to get yourself on your feet but you can do it, stay positive. It does get better, they want you to believe you will simply crawl under a rock and die without there organization. Prove them wrong, live a fantastic life. There are many accounts here, where people are doing just that, we are proving them wrong everyday. That's another reason they don't want people coming to apostate sites, because we prove them wrong in every way.

The GOD of the OT a great guy..
by James Mixon inleviticus 21:18-20 can not approach god.
a man blind or lame, who has a marred face.

Fascinating isn't it. But you haven't seen anything yet according to the bible, god did what he did to protect his seed so he conquered surrounding nations and genocide was committed and approved for the future blessing of the nations. Next up Armageddon, here is where God will wipe out 7 billion of his creation and then resurrect billions of the dead to only kill them again. -

Fading tactic that worked well for me
by traveb inif you read some of my past posts you’ll know that i’ve successfully faded while being able to keep contact with my immediate family, who are still very devout jws.
when i did finally completely stop attending meetings, my family, and especially my parents (elder father and pioneer mom), were of course very interested to know the reasons why.
at first i deflected their questions, stating that i had personal reasons and did not want to explain myself.

Hello Traveb
I enjoyed your OP, great strategy.
I agree, I wont debate doctrine with anyone anymore except here, sometimes. There is no point and they just wont reason anyways. Their mind is subjugated, if they think you sound at all like a apostate they raise the shields and there whole demeanor changes to a defensive posture.I just go along with what ever and smile (with those in the congregation) just buying my time, when the day comes, I will burn the bridges and never return. Time is on your side the end is not coming.
