The New World , Utopian or Dystopian?
by BluesBrother inlike many others on here i was raised and spent many years of my life looking forward to , and basing my life around the anticipated "new world" .this utopian paradise would "satisfy the desire of every living thing".
we would enjoy eternal youth in perfect health,have abundant good food ,comfortable homes ,even welcome our parents and forebears back from the dead - what's not to like?i found this description of a dystopian world on the net :"characteristics of a dystopian society• propaganda is used to control the citizens of society.• information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted.• a figurehead or concept is worshipped by the citizens of the society.• citizens are perceived to be under constant surveillance.• citizens have a fear of the outside world.• citizens live in a dehumanized state.• the natural world is banished and distrusted.• citizens conform to uniform expectations.
individuality and dissent are bad.• the society is an illusion of a perfect utopian world."hmm.

Moment of awakening?
by Freeandclear ini just recalled something from my past that i've not thought about in a very long time, but it did have a significant impact on me whether i knew it or not at the time....... i have a sister who was born when i was 15. my family are not jw's thank the universe!
but me as an uberdub at the time convinced my young sister to have a study.
she was about 14 or 15 at the time i'd guess.

Coming out of a coma is a good analogy. I sometime need to stop and figure out who, I really am and not just remnants of my cult personality coming through. Its like learning how to be a person again, how to be part of a wonderful global community. How to feel empathy for people and not chuck it up to Jehovah will take care of everything. I still tend to judge things for what I perceive them to be and not what they really are.Working on that!
Its like waking up 40 years into the future, your life is gone, In a "blink of an Eye".

The Orthodox Communion, including the Greek and Russian Orthodox, make up 12% of Christians. And people who belong to other traditions that view themselves as Christian (including Christian Scientists, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses) make up about 1% of the global Christian population.7
Looks like Jehovah's witness are in last place 1% of the global Christian population. Statistically looks like God is with the Catholics. We need to start fact checking these truths!
