  i heard this one first in 1957. i was 6. my mother had just converted.

  I feel you, my wife has come around big time but still hold out just in case it is the truth. I have told her you need to do your own research and it will become clear as day. She is hesitate to go on apostate websites.

  My sister and her husband were in town for a visit the other day, they are completely in, extreme bunker type.

  She said that"a brother is her hall stopped going to the meeting" he was the PO of their hall. I asked her what happened to him? She said "he started looking at apostate sites and left the truth".

  Me: I wonder what he read that drastically changed his view of the truth?

  Her: It doesn't matter what he seen the counsel is never look at these sites they will instill doubts in you and you will certainly leave, not because of what you read but because you were unloyal to Jehovah.

  Me: Or maybe it was just what he read?

  She ended the conversation their, she just thinks we are spiritually weak and need encouragement. But doubt is what I served up. Poor sister she has a good heart but so delusional.

  You know I really don't care what they preach, if people want to believe it then let them. My problem is how they deal with those that decide it's all bullshit! You should be able to say to anyone, who wants to listen "its a destructive cult and its all lies". Look at all the lies they have been spewing since the 1800, they are the epitome of a false prophet here the proof, look at all the pedophile issues happening in the congregations, on and on we could go...but no we are threatened with losing our families if we speak the TRUTH. That's what infuriates me about this destructive controlling CULT.

  i have a question.

  yesterday while the wife and i were hitting garage sales we seen a house selling tools.

  this house happened to be a witness couple getting rid of some old stuff.

  My mom is the same, all she talks about is the end is eminent! You change the subject and she steers it right back to the end is at hand. Holy shit I started to just avoid her calls it tiresome.   If we tell them life is great, everything is great, they will suddenly see that we are not "with them", not even "in spirit" let alone in person, and we suddenly become "worldly", or worse -- apostate. Even more so if we say anything negative about their precious JW concepts. They see it as we've lost our way and lost our faith and chosen The World over The Troof. We are no longer "victims" (as they see themselves) in this rotten old system of things. Rather, we've embraced the rotten old system and are loving it.

  So true, I bet my whole congregation will think of us when they see the bunker videos. "Where's Kevin?" "He no longer wants anything to do with us." That video is designed to cast a dark cloud over inactive ones... we are bird food, in their minds.

  I recently spoke to a old friend who is in my old congregation, he was going on and on about being tired and burned out.....so I said " honestly, since I stopped going to the meeting my stress level has disappeared, my anxiety is almost gone.....their was just to much guilt and pressure to be, just so." He went quiet and thought about it for a while ....then said. "But we are so close to the end", we were interrupted and so changes subjects.

  A lot of people are waking up and it starts with a few kind words.

  i've read many statements on this forum from people who have expressed the sentiment that you don't shove ttatt down the throat of an older person.

  it would be too traumatic and its best to let some people, in some situations, simply pass on in the delusion.. its humane.

  merciful.. in the initial roar of my awakening, i was unable to cuddle up to that sentiment; preferring, instead, to shove the blood curdling shock of truth down the throat of anyone i could get my grip on... age be dammed.

  Good Karma Zoos. What do you do crush the mans faith just to make a point? No... you did good!

  I've been called to pray, it all feels cultishly weird like talking to myself, pulling up old phrases from bygone days. I avoid the situation where I might be called on to pray and have said no before but there are times we need to do what we need to do.

  Introduction - Any Believers?

  i’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.

  i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.

  i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

  I agree. I was thinking of bringing my wife to this site as her journey continues out of the cult but after seeing how fanatical some get and hateful, I know she would run back the other direction. Their's no point saying anymore the direction of this site is not recovery but to inculcate a strict standard of atheistic views, even though I agree with most of it the delivery must be more towards teaching and not berating those who come here to share. We cant forget we did the same thing when we were dubs, hell we even brought it to there doors. This is the largest site for exiting JW we might be doing more harm then good.

  Sorry to see you go David Jay your post were always so well thought out and seasoned.
