Duran, follow carefully now. Life cycle of the first beast has been cut short = 42 months. End of first beast. Then Beast from the earth instructs the people to make an image of the first beast. The image is new. It is not the first beast but an image of it. Now Beast from the earth blows breath into the image and it becomes a beast in its own right. This is a new beast, based on the first beast. This must then be the scarlet-colored wild beast = beast from the abyss. I accept that the beast thrown into the fire must be the scarlet-colored wild beast. Unfortunately, John doesn't distinguish between the two.

I, again, believe Beast from the sea was absorbed by Beast from the abyss. This follows the natural Revelation chronology. While in the abyss the beast is inactive, while out of the abyss the beast becomes active and eventually take over rulership of the earth (Rev. 17:11-13; cf. Dan. 2:41-43).

Duran, there's three beasts mentioned by John in the book of Revelation: 1) Beast from the sea = Beast with slain head that healed (Rev. 13:1, 3). This beast is a conglomeration of Daniel's four beasts. 2) Beast from the earth = false prophet (13:11, 12). 3) Beast from the abyss = scarlet-colored wild beast (17:3, 8; cf. 11:7). The first beast was either absorbed by the other beasts or it disappeared from the scene because Jesus only deals with the scarlet-colored wild beast and false prophet during Armageddon (cf. 19:20; 20:10).

Watchtower interpretation (not sure whether this is till the case): Beast = United Nations. Babylon the Great = World Empire of False Religion. They joined the UN as NGO and became part of the beast, partying alongside Babylon the Great. So they are condemned by their own interpretation.

They are condemned by their own interpretation of Scripture. One is often identified by the company you keep. To me this sequence of Scriptures stand out. Babylon the Great rides the beast. Did they not also ride the beast with Babylon the Great, even just for a few years? Yes, you are identified by the company you keep!
48 But if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, My master is delaying, 49 and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards (Matt. 24:48-49)
3 And he carried me away in [the power of the] spirit into a wilderness. And I caught sight of a woman sitting upon a scarlet-colored wild beast that was full of blasphemous names and that had seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and was adorned with gold and precious stone and pearls and had in her hand a golden cup that was full of disgusting things and the unclean things of her fornication. (Rev. 17:3, 4)
3 For because of the wine of the anger of her fornication all the nations have fallen [victim], and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the traveling merchants of the earth became rich due to the power of her shameless luxury. (Rev. 18:3 NWT) [Cursive script added.]

I experienced the sad case of a retired elder that had fallen by the wayside. His daughter was far away, however quite well off. A fellow elder offered to house him. The catch was he had to sponsor the building on of a flat, next to the elder's house. He used his savings to invest in the flat. Too cut a long story short, he fell and it took quite an effort to get him up. The elder did not want a repeat of this, so he decided to put him in a state home in a nearby town. Never paid back the money invested in the flat. My father, a non-Witness and my mother, a Witness, were some of the few that visited him. He eventually died, lying in his own faeces. I was disgusted at the actions of the so-called "brothers." By the way, the elder that housed him and stole the money was accused to be a pedophile. The girl that accused him were of questionable reputation. So they took his word rather than hers.

What can one say? Mother nature is so cool! She's a brilliant designer and creator. Craig Venter, eat you heart out.
Some of the processes involved. Detail is blurred, but gives one the general idea. The inner workings of a cell, an alien landscape!

This conversation has deteriorated quite rapidly. I had hoped we can discuss some of the specifics, go down to molecular level. Isn't that what the video was all about. Debate, two different poles of opinion, each stating their case and allowing the neutral observer to pick a side, like the BBC does now and then. So much for that pipe dream. Nevertheless, it will remain to be a fascinating subject, a paradox, for some to joke about, and for others to strengthen their face.

No, his argument is even simpler than that. Chemists, biochemists and molecular scientists in the most advanced laboratory setups cannot even synthesize a living cell, even if you supply all the necessary ingredients. They cannot even synthesize RNA, an absolute necessary for a cell to function. They are not even close.
And what I found very interesting is his definition of life, something you all feel you must ridicule. He gave the text book definition of abiogenesis and a living entity. This is also what I learnt in my studies.
Abiogenesis: Origin of life from living matter. And a living entity must:
1) Be responsive to its environment.
2) Grow and change.
3) Be able to reproduce.
4) Have a metabolism and breathe.
5) Maintain homeostasis (steady internal physical and chemical condition)..
6) Be made up of cells.
7) Be passing traits to offspring.
Like your elder friend, if they accomplish the above, I will become a believer. But I will still believe in a Creator, because then man has become a "creator." Feel free to give your definition of a living entity, I'm all ears. I thought you all might want to criticize the above and give your own definition. As you'll notice, this is a tall order. One must be very brave to do research on the origin of life. But you must inform your elder friend, he must watch out what he wishes for. With CRISPR technology, this is quite possible. With the geneticists the sky is the limit.
Cofty, do give us more to wet our appetites. Ad hominem attacks don't do anything for me, I'm afraid. Be specific.

I should have added. Feel free not to watch it. I can see why you all did not excel in the debating team. Must say, all comments so far qualify as "word salad," however this time "a coherent jumble of words and verbal sounds." Not one has anything substantial to say, except for ad hominem attacks of the person and his religion. One way of hiding one's ignorance. Unfortunately there's nothing I can go on that's worth answering, except perhaps the application of "word salad."
By the way MeanMrMustard, what he's saying: In the primordial soup would have to be many atoms and molecules that would have to be combined to start off life. Although millions of combinations being possible, only one combination would sustain life, e.g., the naturally occurring D-ribose sugar in DNA, RNA and ATP (see Wikipedia). What's the chance of that? But I'm afraid, only an experienced chemist would be able to work this out. So ask for a (chemist) friend.
