Phizzy, I dare say, old chap, you know, theocratic warfare and all that. Apologist-trolls just love to throw their names away.

My years at University were the best years of my life. In hindsight, I was religiously minded, and my professors were extremely tolerant, indeed more tolerant than the Watchtower, which allows no dissent or alternative views. And, Ethos, please remember to put it on your CV if and when you drop out of University. Your prospective employer will be impressed.

Ethos (and all still mentally in): Truth, Tipping Points and Standards
by NeverKnew inif this is "the truth," why has the information provided over the years contained so many errors?
at what point does "error" become "outright lie" for you?
how high (or low) are your standards for your spiritual leaders?
-
Vidqun
My tipping point is "spiritual fornication" (with UN, OSCE) and the protection of paedophiles.

Is "full-time service" a cult within a cult?
by brokethechain inaccording to the bite model, mind control groups keep their members busy, tell them they are special, have special lingo, etc.. doesn't that make "full-time ministers" into a deeper level of mind control?
it's a "special privilege" to be among those "ranks", there are extra meetings "anual pioneer meeting", "pioneer school", and a whole other level of guilt/indocrination/control for keeping pioneers/bethelites busy.
as "examples", they shouldn't socialize too much, they shouldn't miss field service groups, they should start their time early, they should study all the publications, etc.

Yes, these are the Marines or Special Forces (SAS) of the Watchtower. If they tell them to jump off a cliff, they will jump off a cliff. Pity them, for their leaders are blind (cf. Matt. 15:14).

what an evening
by wha happened? injust got out of bed.. i've been feeling a bit flu like since thursday.
no big deal.
yesterday it kicks in full gear.

Vidqun
Wha, sounds like a variant of bird flu, although with most of those you get stomach complaints on top of the flu symptoms. Best you sweat it out. If it is flu then antibiotics won't help. I had a bad one a while back and the pharmacist said I should get over it by myself. As the Flu variants get worse, getting the yearly flu shot is not such a bad idea.

I have been booted out of the org. for pointing out those errors. So, Ethos, beware! You're walking on thin ice.

Thank you all for the kind words. There were two young elders and one old one. The chairman, one of the young elders, opened proceedings with a very interesting scripture, immediately shooting himself in the foot. He read 1 John 5:20 (must come from the new "Shepherd"-book): " But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting." I think he wanted to stress the unity part, but then I pounced on the "intellectual capacity"-part. First of all, before the unity comes, one must be able to exercise one's intellectual capacity to distinguish right from wrong (cf. Hebr. 5:12-14). Must say, I enjoyed that.
In conclusion, the old elder ask me: "Where do I go from here?" as though my life has now ended by being kicked out of the congregation. I assured him I will continue my studies and research, as I have always done (I told them they should try it). The one young elder wanted to jump in and say the Internet (they know I get a lot of my information from the Internet). The older elder motioned him to be quiet to his credit. He did ask me and wanted me to answer. So I corrected him by saying that I have computer programs containing libraries of thousands of books, commentaries, translations, dictionaries, etc. So much so that I will not be able to work through them in my lifetime.
Marvin, I did end by saying I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. He was also maligned, persecuted and labelled as an apostate by his brothers.
Problemaddict, yes, I look after my mother, who is a Witness, but she knows where I stand. She also feels strongly about the paedophile issue because we had a paedophile in our family. The rest of my family members in the truth do not associate with me in any case.
Thanks to you for all the badges. I should ask the elders for my Apostate-diploma so that I can frame it.
Sabastious, I agree. The whole thing smacked of the Roman Inquisition during the Dark Ages. I wanted to tell them, no I don't want to associate with you either. What you have might be contagious, and I don't want any of that.
Billy, the irony is, even if I offered them a bowl of golden apples, they would have rejected it (cf. Prov. 25:11). And what you said of 1914, 1925, 1975, etc. Those are the reasons that I do not want to associate with them. I might get infected by such reasoning, even though it is explicitly stated: "Concerning that day and hour, nobody knows..." (nor the month or year for that matter). Is that blatant disobedience, or what?
Thanks, Satanus, I deserve that badge. Sometimes I can be one of those.
LostGeneration, don't know whether you felt the same, but it is as though a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel "fooltloose and fancy-free..." Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Good thoughts Londo. Today is a landmark for me. I have been lovingly df'd from the congregation after thirty years of service. The charge: Apostasy. Because my interpretation of prophecies differ from the GB = FDS, not because of right or wrong. I shall wear my badge of Apostasy with honor.

Today, I have attended my JC meeting, courtesy of three local elders. All three had their "Shepherd"-books on their laps. I carefully and meticulously proved to them that their interpretation of Dan. 12:6, 7 and Rev. 11:7-10 are wrong. We touched upon different topics, e.g., the UN, OSCE, the protection of pedophiles, etc., things I feel strongly about.
After discussing these in depth, their reaction was predictable. If you do not believe in the interpretation of the FDS = GB (right or wrong), you are an apostate. To protect the congregation you must be df'ed from the congregation. By the way, they have not heard of the new light of the FDS = GB. They became very irritated every time I brought it up.
They were kind enough to allow me 7 days to appeal their findings. If I do not appeal, they would announce their verdict to the congregation. I assured them that I would not be interested. They inferred that if I start attending meetings again, that would show repentance and that I would be welcomed back to the congregation. But I told them that would be unlikely, as I do not expect great changes in the org. in the forseeable future. As things stand now, I won't be interested.
I am ashamed to admit that I spent thirty years with the cult. Now I am wide awake. In confirmation, I have received my Apostate Badge of honor, at long last. Now I can really sympathize with many of you. It is a slap in the face, but I believe it's worth it. One must be true to one's beliefs, no matter what.
Congrats are in order.
