A real hard question.
But what can you expect from a delusioned religious leader such as Freddy Franz? (the latest wt real tacit official prophet)

i hope that those that are jw lawyers get tired of the governing body and quit bethel because of the bull shit theyv'e had to clean up after the gb.
it may be happening right now.
think about it the gb have issued the call for more lawyers to the congregations,, perhaps there is some disloyalty growing towards the gb being manifested in the legal department and the gb needs help desparately.
The legal "sytem" seem to set fair rules for most cases.
The Judges (mostly exlawyers) are the ones that permit the "lying".
The root. Are humans (including judges of course) intrinsically good or bad?.
Humans seem to be unable to "rule" themselves... look around and see.
fiorina walks away from hp/compaq with $42m !!.
no doubt this will be averaged out so that on paper, american workers have a great average pay but in reality, a fat-cat ceo has creamed more off the top and the workers at the bottom get zip.
and all for doing a bad job!
Even to a dumb user it was evident something was not right after HP/COMPAQ joint... with that kind of CEO contracts, i would not be surprised if she commited a calculated "mistake" to get fired.
By the way HP just came out with a low cost pc with integrated tv, fm radio and removable second hard disk. I am sure Bill is providing the Soft for you to play with all that.
Why did it take so long Bill? keep pushing..

how you do find volume and volatility (good for day trading) as compare to securities?.
i dont have the time but last time i checked stocks they were going no where and volatility seemed low, imo.
simon one more thing regarding stocks, in case you forgot, Microsoft, GE and CISCO are the biggest companois in the stock market. I am sure the first two are part of the prestigious 30 blue-chip.co (dow Jones, DJiA), therefore considered 'pilars' of the economic system, dont be afraid.

Simon,
if you want more volativity is traded options
i respect opitons, they more technically complex to trade, too many things can go wrong fundamentaly, the reason for the high volatility.
Major known currencies imo, do not change value so drastically.
options trading is something else, you really have to master the game real good.
a volatitly example that can leave you crying could be if you invest in MSFT and then Bill and company make a major mistake when releasing and much waited new product lets say .NET (not the best example) you never know.
Again knowledge is power if you know what's coming... and can master stock technical analysis you have an avantage.

Simon,
or loose a lot, real fast.
not if you really learn to "ride" the game/train.
All you need to do is stablish how much you are willing to "loose" in the case things start going downhill.
you "program" they 'train' to automatically open a door and kick you out once it is going downhill, before it is too late, you decide the exit point.
Regaridng forex you can play 24 hours 5 1/2 days a week... but you Brits are the boss (and 12 hours older too), you are right in the middle controlling the timing, Greenwich (sp?) time rules
i was looking for something else and came across this old radio information pertaining to jws.

jehovah's witnesses was one of the first religious organizations to enter the broadcasting field.. in 1923, the international bible students' association (as it was then called - the name 'jehovah's witnesses' waa adopted in 1931) bought the equipment of radio station wdt (see page 1) at stapleton, staten island, which the ship owners radio service was shutting down.. .
yes, only 15 min
btw it shows that they having shunning technology (when convinient) Knorr was a Walmart excutive wanabe, who saw an opportunity in the printing business, Freddy was his perfect match a prolific writer, did he ever get to use a pc by the way?, i doubt it.
With a lot less manpower they could become a good or supreme competitor to radio tv evangelists, just need to ask for donations over the radio waves, 'utilizing' their best public speakers, but they choosed the printed media instead
Using radio they could reach the whole world in any language , (their goal?), branches only had to sell radios ( and batteries of course) (shortwave, long wave fm, am you name it) in devloping countries they could exchange *as they did for lieterature), for eggs and later trade it for money at the local open market

dh,
In all honesty I think there are far better ways to invest money, currency is volatile, espcially in todays climate, with wars, the dollar being weak, the US wanting China to revalue, etc etc.
The moneyis in day-trading, for those who have what it takes, not money, but the discipline and personality. Been there done that.
Now just thinking about getting back to it, it is easy living. Never traded forex but so far seems even better because of the volume, hours of operation etc, btw volatily is great for day trading.
I would never seat on any currency or even stocks, unless it is a real good one for the long haul, such as GE.
I have been "inactive" for personal reasons but i cant think of anything as profitable and so easy, having 'temperament' is the key.

up until recently (1980 ?) the WT had some radio programs, topics tightly regulated, actually the jw presenter(s) just could read the material provided by the WT Broollyn, they have never allowed elders or anyone to talk freely on any radio program, even if the station does not charge for air time.
The reason is no one become prominent and detract from the main objective of "leterature distribuion"
Rado is cheap, if the WT think they are unique that would be a good way to acomplish the difficult task of getting allowed to enter people's homes with a free message, if that was the real objective.
They could choose the best public speakers and have interaction with the public
